I had a good idea of which room my cat was eliminating in so I was very quickly able to locate the spot. The product package contains a chart to inform the user what type of liquid (urine, semen, saliva, etc.) is found. Do this at night, the room must be totally dark. I will take this on my next hotel stay along with a can of disenfectant.

The cat peed on our bed, which was covered with a light-colored bed sheet and a dark-colored blanket. I held the UV light directly over the fresh stain on the bed sheet and the blanket, and neither glowed. I held it 3" over the spot, and there was no difference.

I did some research, and there appears to be a handheld version of this (which is depicted above), and a bigger one that takes D batteries. The one I have is the handheld one. I'm guessing the bigger one may work better, but I haven't tried it myself.
