Product Description

Outdoor, Feral and Barn Cats need love too. So we created the most amazing cat shelter on the market today. It comes fully assembled. We have never been denied yet. Cats love it. Sometimes it is not the cat the colony owner wanted in it, but it has been used 100% of the time so far by a feral cat or neighbors cat. This Outdoor Cat House has many elements that makes it so attractive to cats: Two 6" doors for easy access and escape. Weighted felt doors in the shape of a kitty always close and keep the wind out. Flip the doors open and affix to hook and loop strip above the door til kitty gets used to the shelter. In summer you can keep them up so kitty gets a nice breeze. Waterproof beyond measure, your cat will stay dry. It's warm too. 1" thick pine wood doors insulates kitty against the elements. If you look inside you will see a appx 1/8 egg carton foam on the ceiling and floor to help insulate your kitty. It's just like the cup that keeps your coffee warm on winter mornings. We have pre loaded the shelter 1/2 full with wheat straw, natures great insulator, so it is ready to go when you get it. Just open it outside as straw may settle during shipping. Our round design wicks rain and snow off the shelter. The awnings supplied help keep rain and snow out. They affix with the supplied double stick tape supplied. The shelter is easily hidden. Cats love them and people who love cats can afford them. Approximate size: 24" long x 14" high x 14" wide. Usable kitty space is a 13.5" diameter x 22" Large enough for two kitties if they share nicely. Comes in various random colors depending on stock on the floor.

All over the United States right now, the weather is just going crazy. Snow arriving early, freezing rain and hail, blustery winds and this was all before Halloween! I live in Oregon and have the privilege of working with feral and stray cats. It is always a concern when the weather starts getting colder about what to do for the cats. One of the most effective ways that I have found to help these cats survive the cold, is with felinefurniture.com's feral cat house.

What it has that other cat houses don't is a way to make a porch of sorts, by moving the plastic back a ways from the stand, you can allow your cat to stick his head out of the doorway without getting wet. Two entry ways exist to give the cat a chance to escape should a predator show up at the front door, kitty can quickly slide out the back.

If you pile some straw inside the house then your cat has extra insulation to help keep him warm, but as weather tight and waterproof as it is made already- this isn't really necessary.

I have two of these homes, one on top of the Jacuzzi outside as it also proves an additional protection against our slamming rainstorms. One, in the bedroom and I say in the bedroom because I have two feral kitties hiding under the bed currently and putting this house out in the open has coaxed them out of hiding weeks before I would expect they would come out.

The price is reasonable, the unit is made in the U.S. and completely easy to clean and maintain. It comes fully assembled, nothing needed to construct it except to slide it out of the box.

I have two of these cat shelters in my yard. I love them!

First of all, they arrived totally assembled. They are lightweight and easily movable. They smell like wood, not like plastic. Feline Furniture obviously takes pride in a well constructed product. These homes are made in America, not in an overseas factory.

I tried these shelters in various places in my yard. I had one on my front porch which encouraged a neighbor's cat to move in and drive off my feral cat. So now the neighbor's cat lives inside my home and my feral is thriving outside. She has never looked so good!

One of the problems I have had is that we have quite a population of raccoons and possums which makes my feral very skittish. It took two years of feeding her before my feral allowed me to pet her. So now she has two shelters to choose from, one in my front yard and one in my back yard!

I could see a bunch of these little houses set up in a row like vacation cottages used to be set up in Wisconsin in the 1950's. Wouldn't that be a hoot! So if you have a lot of cats with territorial problems, they would all be happy in their own little houses!

These do well inside the house and outside. When it rains, they stay dry inside. I don't know how that works, but it does, and well. I really like the flaps over the front and back doors that can be left open to encourage entry. They are held up by little magnets, pure genius! That was such a surprise when I first got my shelter.

I would HIGHLY recommend these shelters, for both inside and outside use.

Amazon Verified Purchase
This might be the coolest thing I've ever purchased on amazon. A very nice looking and uniquely designed shelter for a feral cat or two.

We're using this cat house for the outdoor and fixed "feral" cats who live in our yard. My primary concern was size- will it fit multiple cats comfortable, and it will indeed.

Very nice woodsy smell on opening the box. The braces on the bottom and the floor inside the house are made of real wood, bark still on. Within 30 seconds our cats were purring around and blissfully smelling every detail. There was a big bag of catnip included in the box so naturally, they were excited to check it out right away.

The slim and subtle cylindrical profile makes it easy to stow against your house, garage, or in a garden and let the cats stay hidden. I really like that it's not a traditional house shape and I love the green color (lets me hide it in the garden where they like to sleep). But the tube's material is also water proof and will keep the cats dry in the rain. The description states that the inside will drain if the cat comes in wet- the sides are open but there are no drain holes per-se, so the wood could get moist. Looks like it's not going to be much of an issue though, and the wooden platform inside is really the best part about this cat house. I saw another one with a carpeted bottom from another cat house manufacturer- really? For a feral cat house? Not a good idea, this is the way to go, our cats love to sleep on wood, they would not go near a plastic bottomed anything, but it's still easy to hose out and brush out periodically.

The felt flaps have magnets on the bottom to keep them optionally open. One of the flaps was stapled on crooked, but it doesn't detract in any way from its function for the cats.

Decently heavy and sturdy, too. Great product, made locally for us too as it turns out (SoCal).
