Not Any Typical Cartoon,
By
This review is from: Felix The Cat: The Movie [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie is unlike any previous Felix the Cat Movie. I suggest that everyone purchase this movie. It has an astounding soundtrack and most scenes are eerie and completely unique. You will never see another movie like this (I promise that). If you would like a synopsis, this is the best I can do.Felix falls into an alternate dimension where a princess is held captive by an evil machine king, who commands an army of metal fiends. He forces the princess to sing in a circus tent with hundreds of odd creatures, and Felix must save her. Purchase this Movie for its antiquity and outstanding replay value. It is more than worth having in your collection.

I can remember watching this movie many times when i was a young kid (im only a teenager now, but you get the point.)
after about ten years, i was reminded of this movie and immediately went to find my home-taped Disney Channel copy. popping it in, I was instantly brought back to the world i love so much. Felix purists may decry this movie for its lack of ties to the original cartoon, but i see it as simply a different view of the same felix. the dark, twisted story line wont bore adults, but the family-friendly diologue (meaning the lack of cursing or any sexual references) and loveable characters (felix, a dumpy librarian-like royal aid, and an old miner-type called Pim) make the movie enjoyable for kids, who wont catch the dark undertones of the plot. I have always enjoyed this movie, and i always will. felix the cat is the best.

I dont know how the writers came up with this concept of a Felix the cat movie, but i think some late nights listening to Pink Floyd and Journey may have helped. I first saw this movie on television at a young age. The movie struck a dark chord with me, the movie can be frightening and sureal at times. However, no matter how many critics hated this film, it will never have an impact on my view. I think Felix is late night movie material. It is to be watched when your mind is clear, and you are in a state of rest. The story is out of this world, something dreamt of, having no relevance to Felix the cat. Yet, the animation is great, and its boldness sticks with you. Watch it, if you can actually find a copy anywhere, and enjoy.

I first watched this movie when I was very young, and it enthralled me from the beginning. The soundtrack can't be beat, and the whole story is imesurably bizarre. Though it's somewhat of a disturbing movie, if a copy is available, buy it! The animation is great, and it's a movie I'll never forget. But don't let your little ones see it, because I had nightmares for days.

I was obsessed with this movie when I was little, even though I had never seen a single Felix the Cat cartoon. I loved the character Oriana (yes, the princess) so much that I now have that as part of my email address. I managed to watch it again, just a few months ago. It...wasn't as good as I remember it, of course. The music was still really cool, but I realized the animation was really crappy. It's really kind of a creepy movie, looking at it now. But you really need to see it to understand it.

I recall watching this all the time in the 90s when I was a kid, and had forgotten about it until recently. It was very frequently shown on the Disney Channel, but has not been aired since the late 90s.
While the movie was considered a flop, it is responsible for reviving Felix the Cat's popularity well into the early 2000s. Until this, the franchise had been nearly dead since the 50s or 60s. Tom and Jerry and Garfield's popularity would shadow Felix for decades beforehand. This movie was made in 1988, but didn't make it to the US until 1991, and you can definitely tell it's an 80s movie. It is a wild departure from any previous Felix the Cat movie or series, especially the fact that his bag of tricks is now powered by "laser eyes" Felix somehow has. There are many scenes that young children may consider "scary", but most of the movie follows a surreal plot. In short, Felix is summoned to a whole different dimension to rescue a kingdom from an evil leader. New fans of Felix would likely enjoy it if they had a short attention span (such as myself when I was young), but fans of the original Felix 'toons have had mixed reactions to the movie. They either enjoyed the fact that their favorite cat was back, or loathed the movie for the wacky plot. It is no doubt a kids movie, but I will likely sit through it if it's ever shown on television again, for "old-time's sake". Following the US release of the movie, Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat premiered on CBS Saturday mornings in the mid-90s, and I thank God that they gave Felix a better voice than the insanely high-pitched voice used for the movie, that was the one thing I could not stand about this movie.

Glorious in its insanity,

This is not a good or normal movie by anyone's account, but if you go into it with an open mind expecting that open mind to be flat-out blown, there will be appreciation. From a technical standpoint, the movie is nightmarishly awful; however, the fact that it basically rips off Fantastic Planet but for children alone redeems it. Also: Nothing debases an innocent, beautiful princess like making her DANCE IN A BUBBLE TO SYNTH MUSIC. Keep it in mind.

This Movie is a wonderous example of Felix and his Magic bag I rented this movie over and over again until it permanently dissapeared from the shelf at West Coast Vidio (formerly choices In my town) which deeply saddened me because of all the enchantment and fun this movie brought me. In this Movie Felix Searches for the Lost city of oreanna and the princess there of meeting along the way his usual "friends" and many othor things. If i ever could find this movie for sale New or used i'd buy it in an instant.

A Valuble Memory of the Movie,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Felix The Cat: The Movie [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have only seen the movie once in my life, so I don't remember much due to the fact I saw it over 3-4 years ago. However I do remember certain things in the movie, including the music. They played one of my most favorite songs, Everybody wants to Rule the World. It was good so far from what I remember, and hopefully I'll see it again soon.

Worst Movie Ever... Biggest Felix Fan,

I absolutely love Felix the Cat. I grew up watching the episodes from the 50s (my favorites) and was so excited when I came across this video in a flea market. It is possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. There are several things I found inappropriate for children, the animation was horribly drawn, and Felix's bag was completely different from his cartoon shorts. I believe that the director of this film has never seen a Felix short. Instead of his bag helping him out and changing into helpful things, Felix in the movie has LAZER VISION and changes his bag, but the bag is trouble and causes problems for Felix. I love Felix and this movie made me so depressed and disappointed, I will never waste my time with it again.
