[Concert für die Violine mit Begleitung des Orchesters...] Op. 64. Leipzig: Breikopf & Hartel. . First edition of the arrangement for violin and piano. PN 7210. 32pp, engraved folio. Marginal repairs, otherwise in fine condition, in a modern half-calf binding. Extremely rare: the earliest known issue, preceding the issue previously regarded as the first, possibly a unique copy. Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto was issued by Breitkopf and Härtel in separate parts and in a piano and violin arrangement, all with the same plate number 7210, at the same time in 1845. Only the solo violin had a title page in this earliest issue; the piano-violin arrangement is titled at the top of page one, "Pianoforte. F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. Op. 64."
