November 2001
When Leonard Sanderson, a concert pianist, after a fatal car accident on the Harbor Freeway in Los Angeles, is reborn as Brad Reilly and remembers how to play, only his sister Elsie believes him, and the truth about his ability.

His father, a God fearing man, on the other hand, is convinced that Brad is possessed by the Devil; while Dr. Carder, a psychiatrist, assumes that Brad is mentally ill and needs treatment, urgently.

Elsie, his only real ally, will not only have to fight for her brother's sanity, but for his life.

More About the Author

Ulf is a Swedish name that means Wolf. Well, today, wolf in Swedish is varg. Or, sometimes, if you're old-fashioned enough, ulv. Go back a century or two, and ulv was spelled ulf.

So, yes, Ulf does mean Wolf.

I was born Ulf Ronnquist one snowy night in late October, in one of those northern Swedish towns that are little more than a clearing in the forest.

Fast forward through twenty years in Sweden, ten or so in England, and another twenty-four in the US and you'll find me in front of an immigrations officer conducting the final citizenship interview, which I passed. Then he asks me, "What name would you like on your passport?"

And I recall what a friend of mine had told me, that you can pick just about any name you want at this point. Then I heard me say "Ulf Wolf."

That's how it happened. Scout's honor.

Of course, I had been using Ulf Wolf as a pen name for some time before this interview, but I hadn't really planned to adopt that as my official U.S. name. But I did. And ULFWOLF did fit nicely on my California license plate.

Today, in northern Idaho, my car has gone more generic and says THEWOLF instead.

So far, I've written six novels and I am working on my seventh. Additionally, I've written four novellas and a host of short stories (some of which I've published as collections).

There is no feeling on earth as when writing goes well: words fall out of the clouds and bounce just right.

5.0 out of 5 stars a page-turner in the Stephen King tradition, October 26, 2011
I demand many things of a novel: action, depth of characterization, and above all, high-quality writing. That's why I compare Ulf Wolf to Stephen King. In some ways, I think King would be flattered by the comparison, because King often (but not always) neglects the spiritual side of his characters in his relentless pursuit of the twisted and seedy. "He Fell Through Clouds" delivers on every important front, as the plot swerves around hairpin turns and the narration pauses only briefly for just enough back story to keep events in context. Having read most of Wolf's published fiction, I also find that he is a true virtuoso of language, reminiscent of craftsmen like Hermann Hesse, Marcel Proust and John Fowles.
