4.0 out of 5 stars Inserts are good but...
These inserts are great for those who have burned music from MP3's and wanta way to label their jewel cases so they can tell what CD is in the case when the CD is stored horizontally with other CD's. I just wish Fellowes sold the tray inserts (the ones that you see in the sides and on the back of a CD case) and the booklets (what's in the front of a case)as a seperate...

This review is from: Fellowes 99946 Standard Jewel Case Inserts, Laser/Ink Jet Printer, Matte Finish, 20/pack (Office Product)
This looked like a good product to me, being that I am a perfectionist and love giving CDs to my friends for an extra birthday present. This package comes with inserts for the back cover and a foldable leaflet for the front cover. First off, these inserts are made of a solid thin white cardboard, which is very sturdy. One good thing about the cardboard; it is pre bended and even provides lines edging the leaflet and back. But then for printing reasons its quite terrible, because the ink seems to bleed if you chose a higher print quality. Also, the ink takes quite a long time to dry, and when it is dried sometimes the ink chips! Another thing is when the leaflet is folded, because with all of the ink on the leaflet, it tends to slightly stick together. Bottom line, use high gloss paper for your inserts and not this product!

I just wish Fellowes sold the tray inserts (the ones that you see in the sides and on the back of a CD case) and the booklets (what's in the front of a case)as a seperate package. I always run out of tray inserts before booklets. Getting the print to line up in the spines (and facing the right direction)can be a bit difficult, but that's a (Fellowes) software issue and hence a different product for a different review...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality inserts but a bit inconsistent, October 21, 2007
This review is from: Fellowes 99946 Standard Jewel Case Inserts, Laser/Ink Jet Printer, Matte Finish, 20/pack (Office Product)
I produce my own music and design all of my CD labels and inserts at home so naturally I would need a product that makes my presentation look as professional as possible. Along with a high quality inkjet printer I've been using the Fellowes matte inserts for more than three years. I find that the coating on the paper makes for a very fine detail in the end result.

The great thing about these inserts is that you can print on both sides of the tray liner and the folding booklet inserts. For those who want to go the extra mile and get clear CD jewel cases you can make the CD look like a professionally produced one that you buy in the store.

The only real complaint that I have with these inserts is that they are inconsistent with the cut lines/perforations. Make sure you sit with each page as they print because you may have to make sure that the printed surface is equal on all edges. Some printing programs allow you adjust the edge of the printed page by 'nudging' it up or down, left or right. It's a pain but to make consistent printed pages you must monitor each page as it prints. Don't walk away form your printer if you have multiple pages to print out.

All in all I love this product for it's crisp, high quality, professional looking presentation. Make sure your printer settings treat these inserts like matte photo paper. You will get very high resolution images and have a great looking CD to show to the world.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I don't suppose there were any surprises. I knew what I was looking for and purchasing by way of the product number. It makes for a simple insert, whether in your CD travel case or in a regular jewel case. When I was printing a few at a time, I figured out a way to print front and back so that one sheet could become two inserts rather than one insert (that was folded) per sheet. Even at retail price, it is a helpful product for organizing your cd collection. In my case, it was organizing GWT - MP3 CDs.
