First, it's LOUD. I have an old Fellowes Shredder, 8 page capacity, which is much quieter. There is NO chance you can be chatting on the phone with a co-worker/client and shred at the same time. I don't know about you, but sitting in front of the shredder doing nothing but seems like a waste of my time.
Second up, the receptacle is side loaded, meaning when you empty it, any shreds still clinging to the blades (and they are always) will either a) block your ability to slide the compartment out, and/or b) spill outside/inside of the shredder, causing a mess in your office, and in the compartment chamber (the latter which will need to be cleaned out by hand or it will block the paper receptacle from sliding back in properly.
Third, the receptacle is small, so if you're not paying attention, it will jam on your own shreddings, AND those that cling to the blades, resulting in a hand-to-machine wrestling match AND a mess.
These shortcomings might not be as annoying in a low-volume personal home office setting. I, however, would expect that if I am capable of neatly emptying the shredded paper bin/receptacle, that a product should allow me that accomplishment. I have proven I can do this with other models. There is no way to empty this shredder without making a mess.
I would absolutely not recommend this product for professional use.
And, don't buy the Fellowes Performance Oil. Just use veg oil...
Pros: Pretty to look at; can handle 12 pages at once
Cons: Very noisy; messy to clean; doesn't cut perfectly
I like the safety feature that shuts down the blades if a finger or other foreign object comes in contact with the chrome safety ring that surrounds the blades. It's styling is attractive, and I like the overheat light - something less expensive models don't have.
I do like this unit and would recommend it.
Bought this shredder and WOW. It can handle an entire "pre-approved credit" offer, envelope and all. It handles staples, credit cards, and can even handle CD-ROMs(although I think that last is not recommended by the manufacturer). It burned through the two bins in a couple of hours without burning up or even overheating.
And I don't know about Fellowes oil or vegetable oil but I generally use something like Universal Shredder Lubricant Sheets, 8-1/2" X 6", 36 Sheets/Pack I fed a sheet through every time I emptied the basket, and it came back hungry for more.
Probably not as great for office use, but for heavy-duty use at home this shredder kicks butt.

Piece of junk. It doesn't shred properly, it overfills the bin so that you cannot get it out and it is very messy when you try to empty it.Published 16 months ago by Robert L baird
Purchased shredder five months ago. Found it to be noisy and messy, but based on the price I paid (expensive little bugger) and that it is advertised as a tough shredder I put up... Read morePublished on May 10, 2014 by sam

Not even close! I bought this shredder less than 2 years ago at BJ's. I only used it at home for occasional light duty shredding. Read morePublished on May 26, 2013 by S. Corey
If you shred more than 24-30 pages (depends on size and thickness), expect to have to dump the shredder or you'll be cleaning up shreds inside the case and all over the floor. Read morePublished on January 13, 2013 by diana
Just picked up one of these from BJs, brought it home and started feeding it some credit card statements and old pay stubs. Read morePublished on June 9, 2012 by Matt Safford
