I have a professional home office and need to shred many docs a day. I bought this shredder for it's high page capacity and speed. I - at present - am shredding a large number of docs, so the issues I am about to highlight are really annoying with such a volume before me. However, even without the volume, I would find this product impractical for the same reasons.
First, it's LOUD. I have an old Fellowes Shredder, 8 page capacity, which is much quieter. There is NO chance you can be chatting on the phone with a co-worker/client and shred at the same time. I don't know about you, but sitting in front of the shredder doing nothing but seems like a waste of my time.
Second up, the receptacle is side loaded, meaning when you empty it, any shreds still clinging to the blades (and they are always) will either a) block your ability to slide the compartment out, and/or b) spill outside/inside of the shredder, causing a mess in your office, and in the compartment chamber (the latter which will need to be cleaned out by hand or it will block the paper receptacle from sliding back in properly.
Third, the receptacle is small, so if you're not paying attention, it will jam on your own shreddings, AND those that cling to the blades, resulting in a hand-to-machine wrestling match AND a mess.
These shortcomings might not be as annoying in a low-volume personal home office setting. I, however, would expect that if I am capable of neatly emptying the shredded paper bin/receptacle, that a product should allow me that accomplishment. I have proven I can do this with other models. There is no way to empty this shredder without making a mess.
I would absolutely not recommend this product for professional use.
And, don't buy the Fellowes Performance Oil. Just use veg oil...
