A Monster,

Don't know about the warranty, because mine is still working. Clearly beats out the $65 models. Does not feel cheap! Cutting teeth and rollers appear superior. Very powerful motor hardly labors when fed 8 sheet maximum. Pretty fast. Handles a lot of junk mail without having to open it first. Slot on top for stuff you don't need to shred is great. Has power supply built into the head instead of a big box on the cord. Very handy lifting handle, unit is VERY heavy, which makes me feel good. Auto-feed is great. Quiet. Not too big.

Very Pleased,
This review is from: Fellowes PowerShredder PS-65C (Office Product)
I had 30+ years of accumulated material that went through this machine. I spaced the shredding over a period of 3-4 days. I did jam it a few times, through my own negligence. Once it took me some time to unjam, but I was getting impatient and put too much paper in at once. Let the machine rest for periods of time.
You really need the special formula oil as well as bags to line the basket. Regular trash bags are cheaper and work fine. Oil formulated for shredders can be found at office supply stores. Shreds credit cards OK, but did not like CD's...

Nice Features But Auto Shred Stopped Working,
By
This review is from: Fellowes PowerShredder PS-65C (Office Product)
We bought ours at OfficeMax - 3 or 4 months later the auto-start sensor stopped working. It works fine if you switch it to on (instead of auto)but the auto-start was much more convenient. I like having a non-shred opening in the back for misc items and the credit card shredder works well. This may be the case with all shredders, but I was amazed at how much paper dust is generated by this thing. We finally resorted to using a kitchen trashcan liner since it was such a mess to unload. Tiny pieces of paper tend to stay caught up in the teeth, but this doesn't seem to impact the unit's ability to shred paper.

Much better than the Royal,
By
This review is from: Fellowes PowerShredder PS-65C (Office Product)
After I returned the Royal shredder that couldn't even properly shred one single piece of paper, I decided to get this one instead. After seeing the price on here, I see that I paid too much in the retail store, but considering the shipping costs it would take for Amazon to ship it to me, I guess I didn't lose too much.
I hooked up this shredder this morning and wasn't expecting much out of it, but after I plugged it in and tested it with some paper, it effortlessly shredded it. No jams, no slowdowns unlike the Royal. I then put an old credit card in the "special" credit card slot, expecting a jam, but no, it shredded it as well with no problem! I then tried to put a CD in it, but quickly discovered that the width of the CD was too big for the opening. Oh well 2 out of 3 aint bad, and I won't be shredding CD's anyway so it doesn't matter. Now my son and I have something to play with when we're bored. I can't wait to get home and shred everything that I don't need anymore, but my main problem now is finally parting with my mountains of old credit card statements and free credit card offers. I tend to keep stuff in case I need it for whatever, but I know I need to get rid of them. Wish me luck After reading the other reviews on here, I am kind of nervous that mine will die as well, but I am hoping it doesn't. I did read in the manual that if you shred a lot of documents continuously the shredder will not function for 15 minutes or so. So hopefully that is one source of the bad reviews....only time will tell.

I abused it and it keeps on chugging,

This is the first shredder that I have owned. I bought it about a month ago. I bought it in order to dispose of 31 years of stored documents weighing an estimate 600 lbs. I was told that I was crazy and that I should hire a shredding service. Unfortunately, I knew that there were the odd voluable few items mixed in to the lot so I had to sort everything page by page. I treated this shredder badly. The safety flapper inside the trash can was the first thing to break, then the sensor that turns it off when the top is removed from the can failed. This turned out to be perfect since I could then abuse the machine even more without emptying the can until it had spilled shreds all over the floor in a deep pile that I could then sovel into a bin. It took me about 4 to 8 hours per day for 10 days to accomplish my cleanup and the shredder never quit. It has a safety shutoff requiring periodic cool-down and I just ran the machine relentlessly until it shut off. Then as soon as it would run again, I started back in. If I had to do it over, I would buy a machine that could handle more documents at once, since this was a fairly extreme task. For everyday home shredding and for the price, this machine should be perfect. I plan to continue to use it until it dies and I will feel satisfied in having gotten a good deal.

Works well so far. Heavy head and large basket make it hard to lift off moter head. Not easy to handle even though it has a handle to lift off. My old one was smaller and much easier to handle, but they no longer make that model. Should last a long time. Does the shredding job very well.

This is a great shredder!,

I bought the shredder for my home use. The shredder top is very heavy duty, with nice, strong blades, and it has a handle for easy lifting. I have been using it for a couple of months now, and love it. I highly recommend it.

It doesn't say it can shred CD's,
By
This review is from: Fellowes PowerShredder PS-65C (Office Product)
I'm looking into shredders and considering this one. Just wanted to note that two reviewers mentioned they weren't able to shred a CD. Note: Unless the specs say CD's, they won't be able to handle CD's. Also note that this is a medium duty shredder. Even though it can handle 25-50 passes per day (8 sheets per pass), its not expecting you to shred 400 pages (8 x 50 = 400) all "in one sitting". If you try, you will overheat it and then have to let it cool down. Even in an 'office' one would more likely shred documents throughout the day rather than just sit there and shred documents continuously for one or two straight hours. (If you need to do that you need a shredder that costs a several hundred if not several thousands of dollars. The more total sheets per day is probably an good "relative" gauge as to how long you can run it continuously compared to other models. The Fellowes 120C handles 4000 sheets a day (compared to this one at 400 sheets). It'll cost about $390. You could also try the 20,000 sheet unit (model 420) at $1187. If have a lot to shred at home, try doing some during the commercial breaks while watching TV and do some every day rather than all at one sitting. Eventually you will catch up in shredding all those old documents.

Too weak - bogs down with 6 sheets - jambs if I try and shred more.

Haven't been able to melt this one,
This review is from: Fellowes PowerShredder PS-65C (Office Product)
None of these homeowner shredders are designed to run more than maybe 10% duty cycle. I'm the first to admit that I don't follow the directions. We stuff more sheets in it than it can handle; run it straight for 20 minutes and don't allow it to cool down. I typically only let it rest when it starts to "smell a little electrical." Yet after all this, it still works fine. I'd recommend it.
