5.0 out of 5 stars Great shredder!
This is great shredder and easy to use. It easily takes care of CDs, credit cards, and 8-10 sheets of paper at a time. Easy to operate and empty.

I read the reviewers comments and I usually decide on what they
say. I got the PS-70 on Friday and went with my wife to use our
old Sentinel Shredder and the new one in our office this Saturday.
In the manual it says that "continuous operation beyond 10-12
minuts will trigger 20-minute cool down period." So, had I read that I would never have bought it. Wish the other reviewers would have mentioned it, but in any event I just did. On the positive side, the PS-70 looks good. Cuts well. Is quiet. I doubt they will take it back. So if you have some significant shredding to do, you can take a 20 minute break for 10-12 minutes of work. Maybe they should put a cooling fan in it or suppy an external
one to blow air through the venting holes. I will check into the
cooling fan side of it and see if I can salvage anything out of my money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable Quality Shredder for Small Office, December 30, 2011
This review is from: Fellowes Powershred PS-70 Shredder (3217002) (Office Product)
I have this shredder, which has worked well in my small office (legal). I've had the shredder for one or two years now. It is reliable and has not malfunctioned. A while back, I shredded a batch of approximately 10,000 sheets of old client files. It took a very long time (days) but it got the job done. It is not efficient for such large job; for smaller jobs, say of 300 sheets at a time, it works fine. The bin gets full after around 300-500 sheets (sometimes I've opened the bin and stepped on the shredded paper to make more room).

It is a small pain to have to discard the shredded paper, so I recommend a bin that is as large as one can afford. For the price, speed, reliability, I feel that this is a good shredder and works for my small business needs. For daily or weekly big jobs, over 300-500 sheets on a sitting, it might be better to get a shredder with a larger bin and one that can feed more paper.

The bottomline is that Fellowes is a good brand. This shredder works well. It is more a matter of determining your general needs.

I love it. It shreds! Imagine that! And it doesn't get stuck as often as other shredders do. 6 months and no problems, I recommend.

This shredder is an absolute work horse.

We've had this shredder over 4 years. Not one jam!! It's designed so that you can't shove in more paper than it can handle.
And if you're on the edge of maximum capacity, you simply hit the reverse button. (My last shredder required me to use
a butter knife to get the jams cleared. It was terribly frustrating.)

Also, we're pretty regular shredders. Anything with our address, old statements, checks, taxes, etc. We probably shred
at least one thing every day. I know.... we're nerds.

But to all of the other nerds who need a great shredder: This is it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Fellowes PS-70 shredder, April 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fellowes Powershred PS-70 Shredder (3217002) (Office Product)
I am seriously unhappy with this shredder. I have one, same make and model. Had purchased this for my son to replace his smaller one. Just unpacked and set it up yesterday, April 6th, ran one 4-sheet pass through it, and it sounds like a threshing machine....like something is badly worn. Mine is several years old, heavily used, and does not make this noise. I have not had time to contact Amazon yet regarding the problem, but wish to package and return this item. If the review may also serve as notification, well and good, and please respond with instructions for its return. I still have the original packing, will not set it out for trash collection. I have been away most days, no free time until evenings, so was going to try contacting Amazom Friday or Saturday, when I hope to be home.
Thank you.

The only upgrade you might want to consider is getting the paper more shredded. Meaning this is not a high security multicut shredder.

It does work very well though and is far superior to the last shredder I had. It seems to be more powerful and realiable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Old technology but dependable up to a point, July 23, 2006

I bought the ps-70 since it was on sale. The new cross-cut shredders are now the in-thing and rightly so. This strip shredder will leave some "strips" still attached so that a determined thief might get enough to steal your SS number. Overall, its OK protection and the cross-cuts have more dependability issues since a more complex cutter system. If I were a banker or spy, I would go with the newer cross cuts; for home use this is OK.

2.0 out of 5 stars I hate this da#n thing..., August 8, 2008
This review is from: Fellowes Powershred PS-70 Shredder (3217002) (Office Product)
Some idiot bought this for my office; the waste bin is a rickety, 2-part ordeal that's split down the middle for some odd reason. Also, there's no handgrabs or handles or anywhere to put your fingers and lift the shredder mechanism off (see photo). The shredder mechanism fits flushly against the bin. When I put it down today, I pinched my finger between the bin and the mechanism, and I've got a huge blood blister now and it hurt like hell. This thing is rickety and dangerous!

So far, so good! I purchased this for our small business office and it sees limited use but it's doing the job well. Replaced another brand that self-destructed in just over a year of mild use!
