Great value for the money!,

So I got so ticked off w/ my 5 sheet shreader (that would only do 3 sheets) and decided to buy a new shredder. This one has NOT disappointed. I've only used it a short time, but so far it is great. The motor powers through 11 sheets like a champ. Credit cards, no problem. Very impressive. Just to stress it, I even put an entire credit card statement still in the envelope through (not recommended!) and it still got the job done. Not bad for a shredder at this price point!

This shredder really is great. It senses when paper is being inserted and turns itself on and off. Shreds very quickly and is pretty quiet. I have a smaller shredder that was too slow and would overheat. I do recommend getting some shredder oil to go along with it but I am very pleased with my purchase.

After reading other reviews and checking around for prices on different types of shredders I decided to try this one out. I work from home and don't do heavy shredding, maybe about 50 pg's a day. I have to say this machine is pretty mediocre as far as function goes. If you try to shred 11 pages (which is states) it really slows the machine down, almost to the point of failure. Also, this bin is quite small and fills up really fast. I should have read more carefully the dimensions that it shreds the paper. Thinking "confetti" I thought they would be really tiny pieces, however, it cuts them into thin strips, about 2in" long..about the same as a strip cut shredder. It does have an automatic start which is always nice and I guess I can live with shredding just a few pages at a time until it gives out and is time to buy another. For the price, not a bad shredder.

The W-11C Shredder is a fine shredder for home usebut not for the office. One thing I learned about these devices is to keep them oiled. I wish that Fellows put in a "sample" size ( 2 ounces) I bought a 12 oz bottle [...], and now I squirt a shot in the blades at every full basket. It seems to run faster than when its dry.
Also, I tend not to over-feed it. Yeah, it handles 8 sheets or those fat envelopes from the credit card sellers, but I go with 2 or 3 sheets at a time. This was a great price for this type of shredder and it arrived in about 1 week. Thank you Amazon for more than books!

Great shredder!,

I purchased this product for use at my office. We have had it for several months now and it works great! It can shred up to 11 sheets at once, no problem. It is used by several people throughout the day and works really great. Overall a great buy!

Works OK - But not 11 sheets,

The reviews that say you are limited to about 5-6 sheets are correct. 11 sheets will totally bog down this machine. It is a light duty machine, and needs to cool down after a couple of minutes of shredding.
Out of curiousity from the first review, I just tried to shred a CD. No way. It did destroy the CD (and probably the shredder), but it only chmoped down about one inch into the CD before jamming. Barely got it out in the backwards mode.

After I purchased this shredder I put it to work straight away. I use it at home for my own personal use shredding documents with account information and etc. My previous shredder was a loaner from a family member when I decided to move and get rid of a lot of excess out of date records. It was slow, noisy and bogged down about every third pass through. I am extremely pleased with THIS item because it really does power through thick amounts of paper at relatively fast pace. It saves me so much time as compared to the other more expensive model that I previously had. It has turned me into a shredding nut. Now I purposly look around the house for stuff to shred. I HATED shredding documents with the old shredder because it just took SO MUCH TIME. I would recommend this item to anyone with the idea of using it for personal use or a small business. It was definately worth every penny.

It is a very nice shredded, it was able to handle the max sheets of paper with plenty of power left. I will be buying another one later for a Christmas gift.

For what I paid, this is a good shredder. Don't expect an industrial grade shredder. However, it's great for light jobs.

I needed a shredder to take care of some of the junk mail accumulating in my office. So, after shopping around for a good shredder, I purchased the w11c at a local home improvement store. I was sold on the "11 page" claim.
Ha! Fresh out of the box, it could BARELY shred 5 or 6 pages... and even then it sounded like it was dying. Heaven forbid I try to shred one of those credit card offers with the flimsy, fake credit card enclosed -- instant jam. Long story short: this shredder died on me after about 15 minutes of shredding. I never put more than simple junk mail into the slot. No staples... and definitely never "11 pages" at once. I'm taking it back to the store. Why on earth would a company advertise 11 page shredding for a product when it can barely accomplish half of that? I sooo wish Amazon included the option to give a product zero stars, because this shredder doesn't deserve a single star. It is a piece of junk. |
