What just happened?,
This review is from: Felony (MP3 Download)
Short and sweet this album sucks. Their last two albums were great and I could actually enjoy listening to them for prolonged periods of time. This, however, I can barely stand to listen to the tracks that I semi like more than once. I don't know what happened to these guys, their pseudo gangster look and feel is a disgrace to metal. Also, their is more spoken word parts in this album then their needs to be. Felony? How about garbage?

Emo-Core?,
This review is from: Felony (Audio CD)
Seriously? This album is a joke. These guys put on the facade that they're all "big and tough", but yet all their songs are about how pissed off they are at some girl, or the world in general. And we're not talking about world changing rage, but emotional "I hate everyone" whining.I can't even bring myself to listen to this album anymore, I'm glad I borrowed it off of someone. Terrible, do not buy this album.

I am a huge emmure fan. I try to make it to all their shows when they play local, I know all their lyrics.I'm here to write this review specifically to Emmure Fans first then secondly to newcomers. PRIOR EMMURE FANS: My God. What in the name of hell happened? First off you'll notice the lyrics have changed significantly into "gangsta" lyrics to get my point across. A lot of them are about jail or killing people with guns and then going to jail. There are a few tracks that stand out and I strongly suggest you grab them then walk away. Sunday Bacon is a maybe. Youtube it then decide. I thought you met telly and blah blah: This ones a keeper. Go ahead and buy it. I<3EMC whatever: This ones also a keeper, go ahead and grab it. Felony: this is a maybe. I guess. Youtube it. You Sunk My whatever: This one sucks. Track 6: Blows First Impressions: Ehhh...youtube it. track 8: Absolutely the worst track of this album. Also the worst lyrics. Bars in Astoria: This ones pretty good but not great. Youtube it track 10: this ones alright, youtube it. Last 2 suck. I mean, its just...the lyrics are an abortion. Its a jumble of madhouse thoughts minus 1 or 2 tracks. Musically its...i mean its diffidently a change. I'm all for changes but you can clearly hear what the guy is saying and it detracts a great deal. Honestly, nothing more to say. Its not a good album, its worth 5 bucks for a reason. Its a completely different animal from the last 2 cd's and yeah thats not a bad thing but the direction they took isnt exactly a huge leap forward. FOR NEW LISTENERS: It sucks, go check out their other stuff. What else is there to say? Its a poor album unless your into these types of lyrics or a new type of "tough" music. I mean this could be for you, people obviously like it and even I like some of it. Give it a listen I mean, go for it. Its got some catchy chorus lines an d a few breakdowns here or there plus the clean vocals arnt that bad at all. If your into it, by all means man! Production quality is on the higher side, album does sound pretty clean. Guitarists do some real neat things with their instruments and they can write some pretty mean songs, they really stepped it up from the prior cd's and thats the best thing about this album. I personally like a few tracks but for the most part...it never makes my rotation unless im specifically in the mood for them. enjoy!

One Fan Down,
This review is from: Felony (MP3 Download)
Can't stand the awful vocals anymore. I loved the older albums, but I new they were going down hill with the respect issue so I'm not really surprised. Can't stand the cheap breakdowns, and most of all, can't stand the lyrics. Really?! You guys should go back to ripping off The Acacia Strain and just pay the law suit Vincent raised against you. At least you'd have some fans back...it's too late to earn respect back either way. Emmure are just a bunch of thugs with bad attitudes...case closed.

This album is no good,

I want to start off by saying this album will not be a long one. This album does not deserve that much of my time. I listen to everything from avant-garde metal, all the black metal genres, and a decent amount of -core. In fact, I used to be a fan of Emmure's Goodbye To the Gallows album. The problem here is, the style is truly the same. People say they are changing, but in reality it is the same band with intentional half-assed vocals. People claiming this is like nu-metal are not far off either. Watch the music video of their single from the album. This band is all about the image and lyrics. The music consists of chugs in each and every song, some catchy, most not. The vocals are what kill this album though. Please avoid this at all costs. Plenty of better -core albums out there.

screw you dinks who hate this album,
This review is from: Felony (Audio CD)
this album isn't much different than goodbye to the gallows if you ask me. the "talking" vocals are back. they are used more than on previous albums but i actually like it. breaks them away from the crowd a little. anyone who compares this to nu metal needs their hearing checked. this is just badass metal. period

love it,
This review is from: Felony (Audio CD)
Im diggin the riffs and not minding the cleaner vocals either. I love when bands venture off into new territory while also stickin to there own shiznit. The lyrics are brutal....pretty much the same ol things that frankie likes to talk about. Its awesome stuff for a workout, really pumps me up. Losin the Lionetti brothers really hasnt changed them too much. If anything it changed them for the better. Lovin this new cd and am hopin this band sticks around a while

Emmure is...changing?,
By Shawn Long (Aberdeen, North Carolina) - See all my reviews

This is one of the most interesting albums I've heard in a while. Weather that is a good thing or not, all depends on what Emmure you like. This is a very different album from "The Respect Issue" and "Goodbye to the Gallows". Maybe that is what they are going for though. There is a lot of talking "singing" through the tracks, and it sounds like they have been listening to some Deftones lately, because songs such as Lesson from Nichole and You Sunk My Battleship are very guitar induced riffs, with the later song having some clean vocals. I'm kind of all over the place in this review, because in reality, that's how the album is. It's all over the place. But that's what I like about it. This is not a rehash of an Acacia Strain album like many people have said Emmure is. This is a bold direction change, and for the most part, I'm down with it. Maybe you will be too.

Felony Falls A Little, but Most of The Album is Alright,
By
This review is from: Felony (Audio CD)
Emmure has changed a few things on Felony. Felony doesn't sound like their previous albums that much. Felony isn't their best album to date. I am still going to give this album five stars, because I know when you see them live you're going to have the time of your life, when Emmure plays songs live off of Felony. Felony could have been better if they took longer to write Felony, they just released The Respect Issue a little over a year ago, a new album wasn't necessary until the end of the year. What I don't like about Felony is that the songs are way too short in time.
