GREAT----------------------------------------------but short,
By Cricket "darth_craz" (South of the border (Canadian border that is)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Felt - A Tribute to Christina Ricci (Audio CD)
OK. I've Always liked it when someone went over all of the different tracks and reviewed them individually, so here goes my shot:
1:Christina Intro: Obviously, this is an intro. That means that it's only about fifteen seconds long. For this reason Intros, Outros, and interludes do not get a rating. As far as intros o, however, this ones alright. Not breathtaking like the Swollen intro on MiC, but solid. 2:The Two: This is the closest that these two come to anything resembling mainstream, but even here it isnt. This is a good thing. This song weaves the tale of two superheroes (Murs and Slug), here to save humanity. Great story, tight rapping, and quality beats. 5/5 3:Annyeurism: Wow. Kind of dark, but it is an asset in this case. The gives an almost disjointed feeling to the whole thing which really sets the stage. One of my favorite songs in a long time. 5/5 4:Hot Bars: Somewhat of a disappointment. One of only two tracks on the disc that I sometimes skip over. I'm not really sure exactly what it is about this song that doesnt fit, but it just doesnt feel right to me. But then I've never really been into the stabs that are the center for this beat. I dont know. It's probably just me. 2/5 5:Suzanne Vega: Another one, like Annyeurism. Sort of disjointed beat almost gives it a stoned or maybe drunk feel or something. Once again, great storytelling going on over hella sic beats. Possibly my favorite song that I have heard in a long time. "Nice lips makin' life hips/ tough so, she fvck slow and fight quick" 5/5 6:Rick James: Probably the most alive song on the album. While Annyeurism and Suzanne Vega are very mellow and The Two is just very energetic, this is the one that makes you want to get up and move. Another case of quality storytelling and solid rapping, the beat just isnt as much my style. 4/5 7:Corey's Interlude: An interlude. Calming, as its supposed to be. See Christina Intro. 8:Another Knight: This is the song that turned me onto this album. I love it. Bet adds emotion, story adds depth, spits add flavor. Top notch. 5/5 9:All I Can Do: Not really my style. Once again, I'm not sure what it is, it just doesnt work for me. I noticed that another reviewer labeled this their favorite, which leads me to believe that there isnt actually anything wrong with the song as far as quality, it just must not be my style. Same as Hot Bars. 2/5 10:Ricci Outro: Cool outro, but short- it's an outro. See Corey's Interlude and Christina Intro. Overall:28/35 Solid. Probably this low for the same reason that I gave it four stars instead of five- its only ten tracks, including an intro, an outro, and an interlude, so its only about a half an hour long. Still its a half hour well spent, and well worth it to bump and support these underground cats. *I realized that my first review was poorly worded. Sorry, I hope this one conveys what I'm trying to say a little bit better

A True Stand-out Album in a Sea of Rubbish,
By Jeremy P. (Montana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Felt: Tribute to Christina Ricci (Reis) (Audio CD)
In an era of the one-hit-and-11-or-12-filler-tracks cd this is a pretty refreshing find. Of course, with the advent of the MP3 you can pretty easily cut the junk and load up on the good stuff. Here's my favorites from what could easily be mistaken for a greatest hits album:
1. Christina Intro 0:24 Not much to say here... Just an intro... 2. The Two 3:57 ***** This is just the riches to rags story of the group. Favorite lyric? "We make dope songs, the task we were given in the era of the mainstream, brainwashed zombies that wanna smoke blunts and live with their mommies..." I simply love the beat and story on this one... 3. Anneurysm 4:59 ***** Dark, creepy... Seriously, I don't think I've heard any song that accurately describes the emotion of a panic attack, insomnia and a generally crushed soul. Slick, dark rhymes and a great beat makes this song a must have. 4. Hot Bars 4:38 **** This is really the only ego-puffing song on the disk. Again, great beat and good flow. I imagine cracking the car door open, turning it up and hanging out in the parking lot... until security kicks you out. 5. Suzanne Vega 3:43 ***** This may be my favorite track on this disk. It uses the all to familiar back beat and (at times) the lyrical styling of Suzanne Vega's "Uncle Tom's Diner" and "Luka". Everything about this song is smooth and flows well. 6. Rick James 3:11 *** As far and beats and lyrics go this is too "disorganized" to fit in on this disk. It's not bad... it's just not good. 7. Corey's Interlude 0:46 Interlude... 8. Another Knight 4:20 ***** This is like the movie "Pretty Woman" with that huge dose of reality that Hollywood missed/ignored. "Another Knight" is thought provoking with a pretty slick minimalist beat. It could easily be interpreted as misogynistic by listeners that don't pay attention to the lyrics. 9. All I Can Do 4:07 ***1/2 "I don't wanna know, leave me in the dark. If I can't hold it then I can't tear it apart." This is a tough one to rate. I like the lyrics and beat but at points in the song they both fall down. The "happy" back beat with dark lyrics are done much better on Atmosphere's "Nothing But Sunshine". 10. Ricci Outro 0:21 Outro track... Overall I give it a five star rating. It's rare to find that CD that you can put in, press play, and just leave running. There are only seven actual songs on the CD; half of the de facto music industry standard. It seems that Slug and Murs stay true to their roots and leave out the "filler tracks" to keep things sounding clean.

Great CD For LL Fans and Rhymesayer Fans Alike,
By Remedy541 (Bend, Oregon) - See all my reviews

First things first. Slug is the illest MC to ever put a mic in his hand and speak to it. His intelligence that he puts into his music is amazing. There is none better. Add that with MURS, one of the in my mind, two elite members of The Living Legends(Other being Eligh) and you get an instant classic, whether it has 10 tracks, only 7 of which are "Full length songs" or 22. I would personally rather pay $15 for 7 tracks of influential meaningful music than pay even $10 for 22 tracks of 50 Cent smoking weed, Emeinem hating his mom, and Chingy "Ballin". In the end, the choice is up to you, make the right one. Support the real Hip-Hop.

Awesome Kick-Ass CD,
This review is from: Felt - A Tribute to Christina Ricci (Audio CD)
This is one of the best CDs I've ever invested in. I can just put this CD on and jam out not having to be disgusted or insulted by any of the lyrics. Slug and Murs are an unbelievable combination. The lyrics are out of this world and the beats are truly original. They do a really nice of job of mixing slow and fast beats to create a rap that you can really bob your head to.

Christina Ricci Should Be Proud,
By Doug Butler (Rio de Janero) - See all my reviews

With Atmosphere getting as huge as they are, fans shouldn't hesitate in checking out the smaller projects of slug. Slug hooks up with Murs for this short but impressive project. Anneurysm has to be my favorite, but there are no slouches among the group. It's a little short, so the price might not be right, but it's definitely worth it.Murs and slug, respect that.

Its like Slug died and was reborn as a west coast mc!,

This cd is so ... good I can't do it justice in this review. First lets talk about the beats, they are great 'bump it in your car on a sunny day with the windows down' kind of beats. Any one familiar with the Living legends will know what I am talking about. Theirs something about west coast producers that just can't be duplicated and The Grouch realy shines on every track with truly top notch production. Next are the Rhymes. Well what can I say Slug is on this. Slug is so good he could make a crappy song and it would still be good compared to most of the garbage thats out their these days. Plus he sounds refreshing over these west coast beats. Not to take anything away from Murs beacuse he is a dope ... mc, anyone who knows the Legends will know what im talkin about so im wasting my time telling you. So why did I only give it 4 stars if it so good, well it is too ... short, thats my only complaint. But the cd is good enough for you to look past that. It would be a deal at ...what you pay at the wherehouse for the crap that they sell you so take a risk and try listening to some real hip hop.

Christina Ricci got Felt up,

Regardless if you're familiar with these two emcee's origins, you'll enjoy this album. Murs & Slug bust their original styles over beats by The Grouch & scratched by Mr. Dibbs. The album is a decent amount of songs so you don't get bored with it & look foward to listening to it again. Mainly mellow but serves it's purpose. The combinations of these two being from different parts of North America, Murs from California & Slug from Minnesota, go well together.

Murs and Slug deliver a complete listen. The production is fresh and both MC's keep out doing each other verse after verse. I never get tired of hearing one or the other, they're both visual and extremely dope. For all who want a great underground cd, this is what you should check. A+
