Book Description

Make Good: Crafts + Life October 13, 2009
Every item is a little sweeter when it’s made with materials that are just right, and the soft, warm, and durable nature of wool felt makes it the perfect material for the little ones in your life. The twenty-five felted projects in this book—from soft play mats and warm wool vests to snuggly teddy bears and cozy baby booties—will add a touch of warm and fuzzy delight to your baby’s life.

Using just two easy techniques—wet felting and needle felting—you can easily transform raw wool into innumerable objects that will please your baby’s senses and last as your child grows. Clear step-by-step instruction and detailed diagrams make felting easy for beginners, while the unique projects and beautiful color photographs will inspire all crafters.

Make the projects in this book and add a touch of warmth to your nursery, crib, playroom, and beyond. Projects include:

   • woolen baby booties—a practical and lovely item any baby will need,
   • flying bluebirds mobile—a classic gift that both babies and parents will appreciate,
   • musical clatter balls—a safe toy that will entertain for hours,
   • warm bottle cover—to help insulate baby’s bottle,
   • mama’s bag—a capacious holder for diapers, cell phones, and lunch.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“The book’s layout, finished-item photos, and project instructions in the back are all easy on the eyes. While newborns quickly outgrow their clothes, anything made from this book would be a keepsake.”—ForeWord Reviews

Although I've only made the baby booties so far from the book's directions, I would have liked the directions to be a little bit clearer.

I love this book! The items are so adorable. There are pictures for each step at the beginning of the book. Supplies needed, besides the wool roving and felting needles, are regular household items. There are projects for wet felting and needle felting. What a great set of projects!

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible disappointment, March 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Felting for Baby: 25 Warm and Woolly Projects for the Little Ones in Your Life (Make Good: Crafts + Life) (Paperback)
Silly me..I thought this book would contain directions about knitting garments and then wet felting them (I do mine in the washer) or needle felting them. To my astonishment, not a single knitting direction..you just take hunks of fiber and divide them in 6 or 8 sections...If you are ok with this, then order this book...if you want any directions to knit items, this is not the book for you. What a total disappointment....
