Product Description

Felting needles are barbed needles used to interlock wool fibers. As t he felting needle is moved up and down the barbs on the needles catch the scales of the wool and entangle them creating a material called f elt. The 38 gauge star needle is a four sided needle that leaves a smaller hole in the felted surface. It felts slower than the larger gauge tria ngle needles but the detail is finer. Triangle needles are three sided needles. The 36 gauge is used for fas ter coarse felting that leaves a larger hole in the felted surface. Th e 38 gauge is a general purpose needle used for medium felting that le aves a smaller hole than the 36 and is good for attaching felt to felt or to wool. The 40 gauge is excellent for fine detailing and sculptin g.

These are really nice, sturdy needles with "L" ends (so they can be used in felting tools if one wishes).

My boyfriend ordered this pack for me to try needle felting for the first time, and I must say these are great. They're easy to hold and they come with a small card describing what each size/type needle is best for. I am truely a beginner and these have been perfect!

As a newbie to felting years ago, I started with one needle, one 6" square of foam and a paragraph of vague directions as to what to do. Felting has become MUCH more popular, and there's a lot more information now, thank goodness, but Wistyria is one of the few putting out a good assortment of needle sizes for single needle felting. These are really nice, sturdy needles with "L" ends (so they can be used in felting tools if one wishes). The sizes range from the stout (36), to the midrange (38), to the fine (40). This collection thoughtfully includes size 38 in both triangle and star shapes. The star shape felts slower than the triangle shape does, but it still works reasonably quickly. The real advantage is that it makes nearly unnoticeable holes in the felt. I use it for joining a LOT - i.e., flower petals to centers; decorative elements to larger items, etc.

All around, this is a really good all-purpose set of needles for dry felting.

These are quality needles. Not flimsy like some others you find. The assortment is fantastic. There is a needle for every job.

We love these, ive used nail polish to keep them color-coded and in order, i like the plastic-coated covers. My daughter has made many cute items and they are kept in this bag for safe keeping.

Great needles for needle felting. You have to be careful when using them not to tilt them as you go up and down or they snap.

These felting needles are straight forward without all the bells and whistles of fancy handles. They are easy to use and do what they are meant to do. I have created quite a few 3D figures with just these needles and roving and am happy with my purchase.

I just started needle felting so I liked the idea of ordering four difference sized needles in one package. It has been fun experimenting with the different needles to see what different effects they produce. The only reason I did not rate this product a 5 is that the needles are small and VERY sharp (well, they need to be sharp to do the trick) and I have big hands, so I ended up puncturing my fingers frequently until I got more of the hang of it. I'm going to order another kind of needle with a handle on it to see if that is any better. Still, they do the trick!

I think these needles are good for beginners. Cheap, nice selection, easy to hold and they work well. But, as mentioned by others, they break easily. Now, this could be because of improper technique or how fragile these are, but each broke after about 3 hours of use. Your mileage may vary, but as of right now I'm in need of another set after barely having finished one project.
