This review is from: Female Blues Singers, Vol. 1: 1924-32 (Audio CD)
Ora Alexander only made eight songs and she arrived in the early 30's. Perhaps if she had done these recordings in the 20's she would have made it big. I think she's as good as her contemporaries like Clara Smith and Ida Cox. The songs Ugly Man Blues and I'm Wild about my Patootie are the best of the bunch. They're great dirty blues songs and Ora shows she has a knack for scatting. The other people who are in this disc feel like fillers compared to Ora.
