5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Simple Hard Boiled Private Investigator Thriller, With One of the Greatest Female Characters Ever Written, March 13, 2011

Mark Preston PI novels do vary substantially in quality, some are pretty entertaining and some are to be blunt really boring. It all depends on the other characters the main character (Mark Preston) has to interact with. In 1981's Female Handle With Care, we've got one of the best female characters ever written in Abigail H. O'Hagan the First. She added the first part to her name as obviously she's an original and is better than all these women with titles such as the thirds, and so forth. She's quick witted, smart and can easily outsmart anyone in a conversation. She's also extremely hot and knows how to use this gift.

Abigail arrives in Preston's office one morning and quickly outwits him, before he knows it he's agreed to split the fee to be paid for the retrieval of a company's payroll stolen by an employee. It does seem simple enough though, all he's really got to do is escort Abigail into a rough part of town where females can't really safely walk around on their own, since Abigail done all the investigation work herself. But Preston starts to hit brick walls in the simple task of locating the man's girlfriend and when Abigail who he had instructed to let him do all the talking decides he's not getting anywhere, steps in and saves the day he's quite annoyed. Adding to Preston's problems though is the fact that locating the employee isn't as simple as it once seemed, and with bodies starting to appear, well Preston may well just regret the day Abigail entered his office.

Also check out the novels under the Phillip Daniels pen name by the same author (Dennis Philips), they are much more consistent in maintaining an average high quality than the ones under the Peter Chambers name.
