The editors (all associated with psychoanalytic studies at Deakin U., Australia) present the articles as having not only historical relevance for the groundwork of contemporary theory, but also as addressing issues that are still controversial today, among them mothering, passivity, hysteria, masochism, object choice, and the complex relationship between gender and biology.
