2.0 out of 5 stars Hang on a moment
Well, firstly, it isnt really a novel, as I discovered after buying this 'book' that it contained only just over 100 pages (some of those just being the publisher preamble). Perhaps a longish short story would be more appropriate. If you want a fairly thin storyline around which sexual encounters are added then this may well be for you. I have read all of Laurell...

I have read all of Laurell Hamilton's books and the erotica (at least up to book 8) was certainly tantilising but in this book it just makes up for a somewhat unpolished piece of work. There is little cleverness or sophistication involved here in story, structure or delivery. I think the editor should be a little more attentive next time to grammar and attempt a more professional creation. I wish there had been more than one review before I purchased this work, but I do like books about vampires. I have just started 'Night Fires' and in just 4 pages the skill of this novelist is far more apparent. I do think Ms Katt has real promise, but it seems like early days at the moment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hands down the worst published work I've ever read., September 11, 2006
This review is from: A Female Vampire (Paperback)
I would give it zero stars, but it isn't an option.

There are no words in the English language to describe how bad this 'novel' is. First of all it's a novella, not a novel. But that's OK, because it could be 1000 pages long I still wouldn't have read more than 20 of them. The writer has no ability to form a coherent sentence. The words are cumbersome and have no flow at all. The stories written into dirty magazines are better. Teenagers can write better than this.

Originally I bought this for my wife because I figured, she likes romance novels, she likes vampires, what could be better? Well, I could have bought her a copy of Penthouse that she would find more interesting. I can't possibly see how any woman could enjoy reading this. The sex is written in a juvenile and absurd manner. More like a farce of a romance novel, than an actual novel.

Melody Chalis survives each vampyric night by feeding off of the blood of her lovers until one night when she is confronted by Eric, the elder vampire. She can either join him, or face a horrible death by the sun.

From the very beginning Melody Chalis, a female vampire, emerges from her mysterious presence proving that she is indeed the lady of the night. Seducing and feeding from her nightly victims she explores their sexual fantasies, not to mention, a few of her own. Her nightly activities are disturbed only by the elder vampire Eric who not only haunts her dreams with vivid detail, but also tries to seduce her making you wonder if the seducers can indeed be seduced themselves.

Each chapter is not only packed with sexual encounters but also action as she speeds away on her lightning blue Harley or battles for her love on the roof of a skyscraper. Each page will keep you guessing on what is coming next and once it ends you'll only want more.

Written in a feminine style without hiding any details the author has given us that hint of what it would be like if we did invite a vampire into our bedroom at night.

This is a book like no other and certainly brings erotica to a new level.

Notes from the author: "I can't believe the responses I've received from fans concerning this book! I have many letters from couples who have told me it improved their sex life in ways they never imagined. Men seem to love it, women seem to love it, hell even the lesbians love it! I even had an old man write me after reading it and told me it was better than Viagra! I guess it just doesn't get better than that." - Katharina Katt

4.0 out of 5 stars An amusing erotic romp through the netherworld..., August 3, 2005

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: A Female Vampire (Paperback)
Katharina Katt has written a fun, sex-and-lust-filled romp through a present-day netherworld! While I'd hesitate to classify this as a novella, it seems more like an anthology of short stories and anecdotes, tied together with a common plotline, common characters, and a dastardly sense of perversion that makes the readers panties wet.

If you're looking for something that's going to deeply immerse you in vampire lore and sear your brain with knowledge, you're looking in the wrong place. If you're looking to see how a vampire views affairs of the heart, this isn't quite the book for you. But if you're looking to see how a vampire does that most human of all physical acts... Come on in, it's a great romp!
