Clarity For The Confused!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mini DVI Male to HDMI Female Video Adapter Cable AD-MDVI-HDMI (Electronics)
Ok, there seems to be some confusion as to what this product will do over the mini-dvi to VGA adapter that Apple sells, so I hope I can shed some light on the matter. The mini-dvi to VGA allows you to display your computer monitor on your television screen with resolutions that your COMPUTER MONITOR is capable of. This is very limiting as most TVs will not support the higher resolutions of the monitor, leaving you with little better than 800x600. In comes the mini-dvi to HDMI adapter, which allows you to display your computer monitor on your television, but the real magic is in the resolutions you are now given. The resolutions are HDTV compatible, allowing for HD viewing( I view mine in 720p). If you're looking for a quick answer, this product is much better than any mini-dvi to VGA that is out, simply for the fact that your resolution will be higher on the TV, resulting in a clearer picture and much more readable text.

A simple product with a simple task. Transmit HDMI video from my mac to the tv. It does a fine job, just note that it is picture only, no audio

Works with Black MacBook,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I use this cable with Apple MacBook Black 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB/250 and it works great on my Toshiba Regza 42" Plasma. Follow these steps to calibrate with Plasma:
-plug in -System Presferences -Displays -TSB-TV window will pop up -'Arrangement' tab -Check "Mirror Displays" Done I also calibrated the color with little change.

Does exactly what it should...got freaked out at first cause when I connected it to my MacBook all that appeared on the TV screen was the wallpaper (no matter what I actually had on the computer screen). This I found out was easily fixed under the System preferences ->Displays...just find the checkbox that says "mirror display" or "mirror screen" or something like that. So now it works great and I can watch any streaming video or tv shows etc. from my laptop on my 42" TV! Just remember there is no sound with this cable...that's a separate audio cable.

I purchased this item to hook up an Optoma HD20 projector to a first gen Intel iMac (1.83 GHz Core Duo), and it works brilliantly. I'm using a 25 ft Link Depot HDMI cable to complete the connection (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IJY8DS/ref=oss_product). This adapter fits snuggly into my iMac, and all the proper supported resolutions appear in my Displays preference pane (1080p included). It appears that almost all of the negative reviews have to do with either it not being the correct size or it not supporting audio. As for the first complaint, I recommend you first visit the site EveryMac ([...]) to double check what Mac you have and what video-out port it has. Apple has a habit (for better or for worse) of quickly adopting the most recent (and often times propriety) video port, even amongst the same models. So please, before you complain about this not being the correct adaptor for your application, double check that your computer does indeed sport a mini-DVI port and not something else. As for the second complaint (lack of audio), this is due to Apple not supporting audio out through the video port. While I don't know this for sure, I imagine it's because the original video format, in this case DVI, doesn't support audio. Why would you expect an adapter that converts from a video format that doesn't support audio to one that does magically also have audio support without also plugging into an audio port? This isn't an iPad, people; it isn't a magical device. Before you complain about an adapter, it's important to understand what the hardware you're using it with does or doesn't support. This product performs a very specific function and it performs that intended function very well.

Why Pay an Arm and a Leg,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mini DVI Male to HDMI Female Video Adapter Cable AD-MDVI-HDMI (Electronics)
If you own an Apple laptop and want to connect it to your HD flat screen TV via the HDMI connection then this is the way to go. I tried it and now I can view my computer, streaming internet video and play computer games through either of my flat screen HD TV's. The quality is excellent and the price is even better. Call me cheap but why pay an arm and a leg for a similar item from Apple or a local chain retailer if you can order this through the mail for a few dollars. Yes yes, yes, I am completely satisfied.
Now, remember that one end is a mini-DVI that connects to you Apple or Mac laptop the other end is a female HDMI so you need a HDMI jumper from this cable to the HDMI connection on your flat screen TV. I had one laying around that I purchase very inexpensively a couple of years ago. Beware of the exorbitant prices ($60-$100) charged by Best Buys, Radio Shack or other retailers for HDMI cables. You can buy them for around $6 here or through other online merchants.

Extremely fast shipping from seller. To be product specific though, this works as advertised. Using to connect Black Macbook to HDTV. Much better results than using mini DVI to VGA connection.

works, but is different than pictured,
fine product; fine price. But different than the picture. At the same time... it was super cheap. So I'm happy.

I purchased this adapter to connect my iMac to my HDTV via HDMI. It works like a champ and holds the connections tightly so nothing slips out on its own. I'd recommend this to any user in need of a Mini-DVI to HDMI solution.
