My Best Pinky Violence and Reko Ike's Film,
By QP (Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Female Yakuza Tale (DVD)
In US and Europe, compared with "Sex and Fury", it seems that evaluation of this film is low."Sex & Fury" is my favorite film too. However, "The Female Yakuza Tale" is a more favorite film, and considers that I am Reiko Ike's best work. Many people who are evaluating similarly are in Japan. The katana fight of Reiko Ike who becomes nudity by the beginning of a film while being dyed bloodshed is absurd and humorous - but, it's simultaneously beautiful and cool. A battle of the climax filled by craziness is legendary. Director Teruo Ishii's originality is wonderful and excellent. He necessarily adheres to neither a historically exact thing nor the continuity of a story. Each scene gives priority over a movie to becoming interesting rather than them. This work and "Sex and Fury" are the leading masterpiece of Pinky Violence Film made at the time with which Reiko Ike matured and it was shining most. Both of the two works are films with suitable being evaluated highly. I have DVD released from Panik House. It was perfect quality. Panik House did very good job. I regret that Panik House is a company not existing now. Each present from Pabik House to a Pinky Violence fans was very excellent. It is very glad that Synapse Films revived this title.

falls into "needs to be seen to be believed" category,
This review is from: Female Yakuza Tale [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.4 Import - Australia ] (DVD)
i really enjoyed this film. don't bother watching if you're not looking for non-mainstream fare. the plot is very outlandish and there are enigmatic characters whose motives will not be much clearer by the end of the film. it's got a great soundtrack, often inappropriate for the action but it's cool and just adds to the disorienting air the film has. it's got lots of samurai and kung fu action but again, if it's bruce lee type action you're after, forget it. will appeal to those who like to wander off the beaten track. that is all.
