This book is intended as a compilation of significant feminist writings "from Adams to de Beauvoir," as the title suggests; therefore, the first reviewer's comments seem unwarranted. I have found this to be an excellent resource for introducing students to the writings associated with first-wave feminism.

This needs an update. It needs to be expanded. Contemporary feminism has taken on a whole new face and ought to be included. This does not show the genealogy of how feminism has evolved into what it is today. It has completely reaffirmed the narrow scope of feminism and failed to add any critiques of feminism which has helped the movement grow into something more dynamic, inclusive, and beautiful. Feminism has evolved into embracing all forms of -isms and other nouns that affect women's lives from racism to heteronormativity and the intersection between class, religion, race, etc. It ignores the global aspect feminism has taken on from the DRC to China to Iran. I hope the author takes a look at this and realizes there are a lot of seminal authors and papers which she has overlooked. A good place to start: bell hooks's "feminist theory: from the margin to center," elsa chaney's "supermadre," rigoberta menchu's autobiography, and ennifer baumgardner's and amy richards's "manifesta."
