Why didn't I think of that?,
By Annie (Iowa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fence Row Gardening: Green Guide For Wise Use Of Forgotten Soil (Paperback)
Mr. Smith's Fence Row Gardening has hit upon a remarkably simple solution for the person who wants to garden but may not have the time nor the room for the traditional half-acre square behind the barn. I'm sorry I didn't think of it myself but no matter. The instuctions for gardening along the fence provided by Mr. Smith are simple but still contain enough details to ensure success. For instance, his advice for handling pests: He sugggests that you simply brush them off or cover the plants with mesh. And whereas ths would be over-whelming in a big garden, with single rows, you can actually imagine yourself doing it.
A lot of things don't ever get done because our plans are too vast. Better to go with a smaller version and enjoy success.

practical quide,
This review is from: Fence Row Gardening: Green Guide For Wise Use Of Forgotten Soil (Paperback)
Fence Row Gardening is a handy quick reference manual for excellent examples and suggestions on how to use forgotten and/or small areas in your yard. It gives ideas for simple, attractive, healthful and carbon free vegetable and flower gardening. It shows how gardening doesn't have to be a major project, tearing up a yard and big burden. Great way to start for adults and children. Worth the small price.
