Fencer of Minerva:The Emergence is beautifully done........ artistically. The animation is lovely, very classic, and the music fitting to the plot. There are some strong characters even if not all of them are developed. The plot is debatable, you really have to be into D/S and S/M to truly understand and like this movie, otherwise you have to watch with an open mind. Prince Sho is driven from his homeland, his father killed, his kingdom taken away in an act of a "military coup". Princess Diana is the princess of the kingdom that once belonged to Prince Sho. She and Sho used to be playmates and she has never forgotten her one true love. In a twist of fate Prince Sho becomes a "peasant" and Diana becomes a Princess, but in that same twist of fate Princess Diana finds herself in a reversal of fortune. When an engagement is forced upon Princess Diana by her father, to the sadistic Prince Doonan she runs away, only to find herself captured by slave traders. Princess Diana is reduced to becoming a sex slave and must serve her masters whims. It is at this point that the story becomes embibed with D/S and S/M. I must admit that the woman forced to be sex slaves and their eventual liking for it was a bit much for me. The love story is eventually overwhelmed by the master slave relationship and heavy bondage theme. If you are not offended by such matters then this is a fine piece of anime. Because of Nudity and violence it is not suitable for children. This is a classic example of Japanese Anime, with some unnessesary sex and heavy B/D/S/S/M.

With a title called "Fencer of Minerva", would you expect at least a few quality sword fight scenes? Yes! Would you also expect there to be a splash of humour that is characteristic of most anime? Probably. Did "Fencer Of Minerva" prvode anything worth watching? Maybe if you like hentai.

To be completely honest, I feel this is the first anime that wasted my time, because I didn't feel entertained while watching it. I am a huge fan of anime like "Cowboy Bebop", "Martian Successor Nadesico" and "Trigun". Even with the less popular "Lost Universe" series, I was at least able to laugh with it.

The one thing that I will NOT take away from this DVD title is the quality of the animation that is presented. Clean from beginning to end, and perfect quality too. Great transfer, and props go to Central Park Media for it.

No matter how good the video and audio are, I honestly don't think this is worthy in any anime collection. That is, unless it's a hentai collection.

Reccommended For Ages 16+

I was loaned the subtitled version from a friend and this is some of Anime at its best. The plot and the porn you want. You'll love this! To reiterate, the _SUBTITLED_ --I will warn you, though, that the dubbed version just doesn't do justice to the original.

This aname is not recomended for children. The quality of the animation is first rate from the beginning to the end. The story line from beginning to end also involves adult situations as to bondage, submission, explicit sex (not hardcore), and for the adult viewer I would recommend that they consider this movie. If you are looking for lots of sword play look elsewhere, the story line has a different intrigue. I was pleased with the movie and am going to be purchashing the Tempist.

Fencer of Minerva: The Tempest is a very disappointing anime. The female characters are slaves or eventually become slaves. They have shackles around their necks and a flimsy top and a g-string to "cover" their bottoms. The plot drags and the action is basically missionary. The clothes keep falling of the slaves at the sight of another male, or female in some instances. The characters are not developed or likable. Diana, who is a princess; was strong willed, and a great swordsman. She also had to put on her thong for Master Sho, and become his personal slave (oh joy). (sniff, sniff) I own Vol 1 and 2 of this series. You have been warned.

WOW! You guys have really got to get this. Its incredible. The story is very in-depth, and cool. The backdrop world is well thought out. The main characters are multifacited (and not just some cardboard cutout). The music is terrific, it really helps to set the mood for the heroine and hero. The animation, colors, and art is impressive. And Diana is one hell of a woman. Smart, sexy, quick-witted, independant, and mentally and emtionally strong. Not someone that I'd want to match my wits against.

Seriously, I purchased this to see, and am so glad I did. After the first episode (the first tape has 3 episodes on it) my roommate and I were hooked. I can't laud enough praises on it. It has a terrific blend of adventure, loss, romance, fantasy, and action. If you guys like Heroic Legand of Arislan or Record of the Lodoss War, this is right up your alley (and then some).

Again, go check this one out. You won't be disappointed.

man this thing sucked. even for porn it sucked. See when with movies of this sort try to make some kind of plot thread in something that its main focus is sex its virtually impossible to look at any artistic value or sciprt for that matter. IT doesnt help the hokey ending (she gives up her posistion as queen to be a sex slave once again.......). and has for porn, the animation detail is ham fisted and simple,never arousing enough or particualrly detailed enough. much of this back lash is the simple idea that the focus keeps saying its the plot. But really who are you fooling, you probablly were better not having a plot at all

Well...at first i noticed that most of the female characters in this anime..are barely dressed while the men are decently covered..why is that?..second of all Diana realy got me hooked at first but then she yeilded in being a slave..To Sho? coz he's her childhood sweet heart? ...if he really loved her he wouldn't let her go on disgracing herself..he should have married her..thats another thing...and i think the story would have been ten times more exciting if Diana put up a struggle ..like the one she had at the first episode..i think if she had,...Sho would have been more and more into her...
And the sex..God the sex!...Its in every scene.!
Note the Diana lets Sho take other woman!!...Iw anted to kill her!!

If your bored and need something to watch..take this

I am a big fan of the Gor series as written by John Norman. As such, I have been disappointed time and again by various movies with similar themes to them (the actual Gor movies were absolutely HORRIBLE). When I first saw the reviews for this movie and it's sequel, Fencer of Minerva: The Tempest, I thought I would give them a shot. At less than $10 for each it was a pretty cheap investment and if I didn't like them I could toss them out without worrying about having spent a lot of money. Let me just say that I was very impressed with both movies. The animation was pretty good and the story-line was pretty solid as well. It stayed on track without diverting to sub-plots in such a way that you almost forget the purpose of it all to begin with.

But on to what I especially liked about this movie, the Gor aspect to it. I don't know if the writers or animators have read the books themselves, but there was a very strong Gor influence to these movies, right down to the clothing (for you folks that know Gor you might recognize Diana's outfit as a chakta and curla). I also noticed that slave and free woman treatment is very similar to John Norman's works. Slaves are whipped, beaten, and punished in this movie, just as slaves both in reality and in Norman's works were. In several scenes the main character Diana is slapped to the ground by Sho, her master and the man she loves. Even though Sho loves Diana completely and knows her from childhood, he still treats her like a slave because that's what she is. Additionally, the free women are required to be covered up and veiled, just like in the Gor series. The slave girls weren't so completely submissive as the kajira of Gor, i.e sometimes speaking to free persons somewhat candidly, amongst other things, but this is not an exact Gorean representation.

There are plenty of sex scenes in these movies, which one sort of expects from an anime or hentai-type movie, but they aren't so graphic that they cold be described as hard core pronography. In fact, the most detailed part of nudity for any character are the women's chests; there are no detailed visuals of any character below the waist (what I like to think of as the Barbie Doll-syndrome when it comes to anime). What this translates to is that while there is sex(uality) and nudity, it is not obscenely so that these movies are strickly BDSM porn.

Some of the comments I saw from subscribers here is the dislike how Diana chose to give up everything to remain as a slave and how women were so completely objectified as sex objects in these movies. If that is how they and other people feel regarding slaves then these movies are NOT for you. The whole concept behind the films (and Gor, which I have been comparing them to) is that this is a society that not only accepts but encourages slavery of beautiful women. The thought proccess is that men are stronger than women, thus their place in society is that of a slave. In our society this type of thought is mostly frowned upon, so a lot of people might not get any enjoyment out of watching the movies.

I could probably go on and on about the various aspects of this movie, but I'll stop here so I don't spoil too much. I think it is easier to say that I greatly enjoyed both movies. Let me finish this off by offering some encouragement and a slight warning to those gor fans who might be interested in getting these two DVDs: To date, this is the most Gor-like production I have ever seen and I think that those of you who have been looking for one I strongly encourage you to look into getting it. HOWEVER, remember that it is not EXACTLY like Gor, nor is it supposed to be, and there is artistic lisence taken with it. Despite that, I would still reccommend these films to any fan of Gor or any similar medieval fan with similar slave concepts.

this is one dvd or vhs you must have.. im not about to give it all away here but i will give you the basic's... it is a bout a prince of a forgotten and evil (to some people) kingdom, and a princess of the reformed evil kingdom these two meet and have many adventures in the two movies but the catch is it is a adult like novel in a movie format great story line no to much xxx rated sex but for you who like that kind of thing it has enough nough said it is a great video i have seen it many times and have yet the money to buy it it is realy great.
