If you're thinking about building any type of fences (wood, ornamental metal, chain link, brick & cedar, stone & rail, cedar & copper), or any type of walls (temporary wall, post & wire trellis, wall of arbors, hedges, framed trellis wall, mortarless block wall, mortared block wall, dry stone wall, mortared stone wall, glass block wall)and any type of gates (basic gates, gate with stained glass, wood/copper gate, arched gate, trellis gate combination), this book will show you how in a clear and simple step by step process. It includes great pictures. A must read!

As far as the book goes it is great it arrived in good condition and the book has very helpful instruction. But the shipper (not Amazon) did a terrible job getting it my house. It shipped from my home state and it still took almost a month to get here. I was not happy about that.

I purchased this book for the specific design with the Lattice Gate and Arbor as shown on the cover, however the directions and material list for that particular design were not included in this book...Otherwise a great book if you have your heart set on another design...

Black & Decker again scores a hit in their Outdoor Home series with Fences, Walls, & Gates. Great photos capture the type of fence described in each section. The chapters are separated by type of fence and fencing materials, and each area begins with the simplest project-type for that section and then moves on to the more complicated type of each. The chapter intros are descriptive and helpful. The diagrams are easy to follow and demonstrate at a glance if that particular project is something you can complete, or something beyond your experience level. I bought the book having a general idea of what I wanted to do with my front yard, and now I have the exact project laid out step by step with easy to follow instructions. Highly recommended if you are considering a new fence project!

This book will help your yard become the envy of the neighborhood. Just wait until you see the cool shadow box.
