Product Description

A more advanced leather glove for when the beginner becomes more serious, with special features to enhance electrical fencing. The good protection and feel of the leather palm is reinforced by a double-layer of leather over the points of greatest wear, where the handle meets the hand- on thumb, forefinger and lower part of palm. Lightly padded back of the hand covered with a rip-resistant layer of cotton which helps point of opponent's blade slide off without setting off a light, a big help in epee and foil. The other difference is that the back of the cuff, further on, is not padded, and thereby continues the potential for slide as well as allowing the cuff to draw in closer and so present less target, while still allowing body cord to snake securely through. A glove with the good blade feel of leather, well thought out features, and very snazzy looking as well. Sold individually.

The seller, Physical Chess, does not seem to keep their Amazon items updated. I ordered these gloves and a mask from this seller. It took them 5 days to inform me that they had canceled my order because they did not have the gloves (or mask) in stock in the size I ordered. Yet, as I write this review, that "out-of-stock" size is still listed on the Amazon listing!

Another item I had ordered that same day, from a different seller, arrived a day before Physical Chess even informed me that they did not have these items. This has increased the time my son has to wait until any item arrive. (and he is SO excited to get gloves and a mask.)

Update: I ordered a mask and gloves from fencing"dot"net. They telephoned me to inform me that the mask I ordered was out of stock. They upgraded me to a more expensive mask, but only charged me the price of the out of stock mask. That's customer service! Both mask and gloves arrived within a week. I DO NOT recommend Physical Chess. Look elsewhere for your fencing needs.

As another reviewer commented, they have red and black palms, not the white depicted, but other than that have been excellent fencing gloves. Good grip, they have the right degree of freedom, and are wearing well.

The glove is a perfect fit! I ordered size small and I was a little worried at first that it might not fit properly but it did once I held my sword (an epee handle, it is a snug fit). The padding is great and I love it! My teacher said that it was good quality (I'm a beginner) and I'm very happy with my glove. Happy stabbing!
