5.0 out of 5 stars Great little amp for quiet practise or headphone monitor
I like to practise my rock and blues late at night and do not want to upset my wife and kids, so I tried a Pocket Rock-it, but found it to crack and snap, very annoying. So I found this affordable option and I am very pleased with the sound. It is only for quiet practise, or as I use it more often, for use with a set a headphones. The required 9v battery is still...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Sound Quality
Having read the other reviews of this product, I was very hopeful I could use the Fender Mini '57 Twin-Amp for times when playing an electric guitar unplugged just doesn't cut. But after using it for an evening, I couldn't wait to return it - it sounded just awful at any volume level and tone setting. I would fully discourage anyone from buying this item for anything more...

The required 9v battery is still working after a month of use, probably 15 hours. It sounds great, and for the money there is nothing else out there.

The only suggestion I would have is to provide an option for a mini-jack for headphones so an adapter to the 1/4" receptacle is not needed. But I would definitely highly recommend it for anyone that has similar needs to mine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fender Mini-57 Great Little Amp, January 29, 2011

This is a nice little amp. It has great sound in a small package. I DO want to clarify one thing, so you won't order the wrong accessories. Amazon's site recommended that I order the Danelectro DA-1 power supply with this unit. That power supply works with the Fender Mini-65 and the Danelectro Honeytone amps, which are also nice units, but it is reverse polarity of the Mini-57. After writing to Fender, I learned that the Boss Pedal Adapter is the one to use with this amp. I am going to try one of those. So far though, I am impressed with this as a practice amp, and I like the style of it. Incidentally, I thought my amp wouldn't power up, so I sent for a replacement, and Amazon was very quick with that. I am sending it back, however, since I probably don't need an extra amp of this size. Hopefully, it will keep working great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome sound with cheap particle board construction, February 6, 2009
This review is from: Fender Mini '57 Twin-Amp (Electronics)
I wasn't sure what to expect when I received the mini amp sound wise. I was surprised at how good this small amp actually sounds when I played on it.

Straight out of the shipping box my amp rattled like there was something loose inside the amp itself so I opened up the back and found 1 of the clamps that holds the speakers had came loose inside. I tried to screw the clamp into the same original hole but the particle board had been destroyed in that spot (stripped). I made another hole and reattached the clamp for the speaker, closed the back up again and it plays wonderfully.

For $50+ it sounds fantastic if you don't have to mess with the screws or the cheap particle board construction its great for quiet practice.

Can use batteries or purchase a wall outlet adaptor for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars i love it, December 27, 2010

bought this little amp for my brother and we both were amazed at the detail that was put into this miniature of the original normal sized fender classic amp: the chicken head knobs, the tweed and the hilarious volume count that can go up to 12!!
we were even more amazed by the sound this little thing puts out,
and were able to nail some extreme/black metal sounds that were impossible to get on bigger amps
without a pedal. and with the gain down, the sound was surprisingly crystal clear. however, to get the best sound out of this mini amp, keep your maximum volume on 10; u'll still get a rageous distortion while preserving the life of your little amp.
this beautiful looking sturdy amp is a perfect tool that allows you to take your electric guitar where there are no electrical outlets (works with a 9volt battery), allowing you jamming possibilities outside the confines of your room/studio.
highly, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Power Packed Mini, January 3, 2010

Don't expect too much from this little sucker but don't expect too little either. it's surprisingly loud running on that kind of power and it's as portable in a small book bag. dont look to hold a concert for this item but rather let it be something to practice with if you're just sitting at home and you dont want to lug around any "beginner/training" amps and/or wake the neighbors because you want to hear yourself (you would need to buy an 1/4" to mini adapter).

here's a link to what the knobs are: [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars power adaptor, June 17, 2011

The amp requires a 9v reverse polarity adaptor like the Boss PSA-120S AC Adaptor. The Danelectro DA-1 that Amazon reccommends won't work as the polarity is different. I'll be playing it through my '61 Strat. So far so good. Real dirty sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars you'll forget ur playing on a small amp, August 4, 2008
This review is from: Fender Mini '57 Twin-Amp (Electronics)
This thing is amazing

The sound that this amp produces is so good you'll be amazed, it kind of bluesy twangy to very good grunge rocky distortion.

However you need to crank the volume up to get the very best of sounds, it is a bit wide for some guitar cases so carrying it in the case depends on your guitar case.

Very good practice amp, true to its bigger brother

5.0 out of 5 stars One cool little amp!, January 5, 2012

Received the amp today and hooked up my telecaster and cranked the gain and is it ever fun. Can sit in my recliner with the amp on an end table by my coffee cup. Then I tried my Epiphone Royale and the tone is mellow. Surprising considering the small size of the speakers.

I had a nine volt adapter for 120 but had to put in an order for the Boss 120s which has the right polarity they say online. So I bought a supply of nine volt batteries and turned it on. Works great for such a cute little amp. Now I'll have to get some for my aspiring rock star granddaughters I guess.

You will need an adapter as others have said for earphones but they are cheap online and in stores everywhere. Being a Fender nut I am now happy to have a tweed case, tweed neck strap, and finally with this little guy a tweed amp! Cool. And Amazon got it here fast so my instant gratification syndrome didn't act up.

Get one, it's a kick and super handy and small and light weight.

Just received another amp and still cannot make the adapter work. Has anybody had any luck with finding one that will work?

4.0 out of 5 stars Got it as a gift.... kind of pricey for what you get, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Fender Mini '57 Twin-Amp (Electronics)
My wife bought this for me as a gift along with some headphones (I can take a hint). Actually, she bought it as a gag Christmas gift not thinking it was truly functional. A bit pricey for a gag gift, but it turned out good.

I have found that the sound quality is decent when I am at half volume or below, but tends to distort (unwanted on the clean sound) and not sound good above that level. That still allows me to practice at low volumes without disturbing the whole house. The distortion option does allow for a bit more volume as the speakers are distorting anyway.

The headphone feature is great, as it will blow the phones right off my head, which tells me the speakers are the weak link in this item, not the amplification. So I can (somehow figure out a way to) hang it on my belt and be mobile with my headphones and have a very good sounding setup. This is a good thing since I am replacing my little Epi 15R amp with a Fender Super Champ XD (Both would be tethered to the wall AC outlet).

Other minor drawbacks are: needs an AC power converter and it would be nice if that came with it for the price; the little foam insert in the battery compartment takes up too much room, so I had to take it out to allow a 9-volt to fit without excessive pressure on the plastic battery cover; and no belt hook to allow ease of mobility.

Overall, I like the amp for the purpose I have.
