I've had this Stratocaster for 5 years now. It's the "all around" , if you are going to get "one guitar in your life" guitar, this is the one. The best part is the maple neck, I think it plays a little faster than the usual rosewood and it feels smoother and cleaner. This is a great value, workhorse guitar. Also it kinda looks like Eric Clapton's old strat, just block the tremolo (a few bucks for extra springs) and you've got a knockoff! Or spend another 500 bucks for the Clapton model or even another 2500 bucks for the reproduction (and you still won't sound like Clapton).

I was initially concerned ordering this guitar online, but ended up getting it through the Amazon. Came in its SKB case, all as described, great shape. Did not regret!

I did however had a chance to see ad try this model (Am. standard) in a Guitar Center store. The one I received was just as good.

There is little to say regarding this guitar. WE all know Fender is awesome. So anything I say will just be a personal thing.

One, get this guitar, forget Squier. Get this or the American Special. I prefer the feel and weight (if I am not mistaken), of the standards. Sure I wanted the headstock of the specials, but to me that Standard just looks classier and handsome and with better parts to my taste, I figured if I wanted a special I would get it custom made, since I cannot get the Olympic white color for the Specials, they made some in 2010, but are discontinued, so GET ONE if you know if someone is selling them because they are rare and will go up in value. I would do it if it had not been for the larger nut width, even larger than these and much larger than the standard non-american strats. I think a whole milimeter difference, but for some reason, you feel it, and I prefer thin necks, which was almost a deal breaker for for getting this guitar, since I preferred the Squier Deluxe feel, not look, of the neck even though the Fender neck is pricer and higher quality.

Two, get the locking tuners in, though the original ones are good, the hell with it, we all know we need perfect tuning reliability, so no sense being cheap here, we love, we play it frequently, it is worth it. I rated this.

Three, I like the warm sound of the pick ups, but needed the YJMs for the neck and bridge. I liked the Fat ones so much for clean tones, that I left the middle one in and this combination gave me a whole buffet of sounds for the hybrid positions.

Four, the feel of the guitar is amazing, it is not very heavy, but just enough to make you feel like you have a piece of good quality wood attached to your body while playing, the whole thing resonates when played.

I was a bit hesitant about buying a strat online but I figured it's a Fender if it has a problem they'll fix it. But I was very pleasantly surprised. It came in the hard shell case and was in perfect condition. I made a slight neck and bridge adjustment and it practically plays itself now. I have always wanted the 3 tone sunburst with maple neck and now I do. Seriously, I have always loved the Fender Strat, the look, the feel and the exceptional playability. I believe I made a great choice with this one.

Update: I have since blocked the tremolo an love it. Since I play with butt of hand resting on the bridge I had problem with variation of tuning because of slight pressure on bridge. I just had a carpenter friend cut me a wedge shaped block of ebony wood that was just slightly narrower than space between tremolo and guitar body. Works perfectly. Still, a really great guitar.

I never had an American made guitar before. Previously I had a Korean Made LTD (V-100), a Korean Yamaha (AES-620) and a cheap Chinese Ibanez. I never quite understood how American made guitars could be any superior to those I already own.

Then I ordered this guitar. The moment it arrived I immediately inspected the guitar. The built quality is immaculate. There's nothing out of place. I tuned it up, and it played great right out of the box! I immediately fell in love in it, and when I returned to my previously trusty Yamaha, there's just no comparison, and the Yamaha is not to shabby either (may be it's the thinner neck on the Fender). This guitar immediately became my favorite out of the four. I am playing the guitar using a Vox Night Train with a V112TV cab, and it tone just sparkles. It is as if the amp and the guitar were made for each other.

Upon close inspection, there is a slight scratch in the body, which is quite invisible unless you look real close. Not a deal breaker, the guitar has traveled thousands of miles to get to Malaysia, some slight scratches does not really bother me...

In all, great guitar, great value, I would definitely aim to purchase another next time!!! Now I don't think I would be able to purchase anything less than an American made Fender again!!! I am already saving up to buy another (maybe an HSS) next year...

I own many Fender Stratocasters, different colors of course,I love them.and I agree with Eric Clapton when he says that they are the best
guitars, in looks, sound and playability ,in the world.I bought my most recent one to do a custom paint job on,and it may not be my last. Can't have enough.
