I've owned musical instruments all my life, taken lessons on piano keyboard, guitar - electric and acoustic, violin lessons for 9 years, trumpet, you name it, I've at least tried it, except for the Fender line of guitars. I decided to try the Stratocaster, I mean, why do so many of the greatest performers for years use this guitar almost exclusively? Now I see why. This guitar wants to 'sing' and it works for anything you can throw at it, blues, dreamy, opera, rock, pop, techno, this instrument knows no limits. I wish I would have bought a Stratocaster when I was a kid, then I'd have more years that I would have been enjoying it and all it does. You have to get it into your hands to feel how it comes alive. It really does have a vibrating body that senses the music. You can feel it and it's right there with whatever you're playing. I haven't had so much fun, so much future to look forward to with any other instrument in my life. Just get one!

I bought this guitar with the hopes of getting an inexpensive american made strat.
I have to say I wasn't disappointed. The fret treatment from the factory was equal to my bandmates
custom shop 4k dollar strat. He was blown away by this guitar.

Fender has really improved their entire product line and this guitar is no exception.

Brilliant strat tone.. flawless execution. intonates perfectly.

it's my go to guitar

I've been playing for over 30 years and this is the fifth guitar I own, including two other Fenders. It's a sienna burst American Standard Strat w/a rosewood board that was built in February 2013. I bought it new for $1049 back in March when Fender was having a big sale, which they do periodically.

The guitar was virtually flawless out of the case, save for two almost microscopic cracks in the finish on the front under the floating trem, where you can't see them anyway. It's like the springs on the bridge pulled down too tight. A tech checked it out and said the cracks shouldn't expand, and they haven't.

The bodies of the sienna burst American Standard Strats are made of ash - most strats are made of alder. The ash on this American Fender BLOWS AWAY the ash on my Mexican Telecaster. It's much more resonant, has beautiful yet subtle grain, and is a lot lighter too. The whole guitar weighs just 6 lbs 11ozs., so it's very comfortable to hold and stand up with and the body is just two pieces, nicely matched. The maple and rosewood on the neck are excellent as well. The finish on this guitar also feels around half as thick as the finish on my MIM Tele.

The tuners aren't locking but they're firm and steady and they are staggered, which helps maintain tension in the middle two strings when there's no string tree there. The medium-large frets are very well finished and rounded, with no sharp ends at all. The knobs and jack all are solid and work without noise. You can read about the wiring on Fender's website, including how you get hum cancellation in the #2 and #4 pickup positions.

The pickups are Fat 50s, which until last year only came standard on custom shop Fenders.

IMO this guitar is a great player's guitar. It is nice, but it isn't something I mind toting with me across the state or across the country. The pickup configuration is on with most strats, and offers a warm upper through a biting lead pickup. Worth the price!

When I took my new Strat home from Harry's Guitar Store I wasn't sure that it would measure up to the many Fender and G&L Strats I have owned in the past in terms of playability, tone, finish, etc. After playing it for several hours I am happy to report that I am very impressed and I give it A's in all areas. The Fender molded case, however, will not win any beauty contests, but it could withstand a plane crash, I believe. You will not be disappointed with the new American Standard Strat and it is worth every bit of the $1,050 it sells for!!

Just bought this guitar last week and am very impressed. I owned a strat many years ago and have recently been playing a Gibson SG. After growing tiresome of my big clunky SG, I decided to trade up for a nice strat and I couldn't be happier. It's light, comfortable feel and smooth playability make me wonder what the hell I was ever doing playing an SG. I even prefer the playability to my old strat. Anyone who complains about the sound of a Strat had better get a new amp..

I have owned many many Strats before this one. There is something about this one that is special. Maybe it's the pickups. I don't know really. The guitar plays comfortably and sounds oh so sweet. It stays in tune as well as any Strat I've ever had. I should also mention that it has a really excellent case. Best one I ever got with a Strat.

After I had it for about a year I did the mod where you add a switch to keep the bridge pickup on all the time to get a couple more pickup combinations. The bridge and neck pickups together sound absolutely amazing! I friggin love this guitar.
