I purchased this item used and love it. The most comfortable neck that I have played before. The pickups have that nice Hendrix bluesy tone that is great for rock and blues with very little effects needed. I am also very pleased with the tremolo system. I had the guitar professionally set up and it rarely goes out of tune.

If you were to buy this strat, it would've been more advantageous to do so back when this line was first released in 2006. That's when this strat came with actual Fender Custom Shop 69 pickups signed by Abigail Ybarra, the woman hired by Leo Fender in 1956 to wind many of the pickups that went into many of those strats that we associate with having that coveted, unique tone that many manufacturers have tried to reproduce but haven't come close. I believe she even wound Jimi Hendrix's pickups, and we all know how great his tone was.

But since then, Abigail Ybarra has retired, and the stock pickups that are in more recent models, I believe, don't have those authentic Custom Shop pickups. Instead, it seems my classic player 60;s strat, which was given to me as a birthday present last year, came stock with 69 pickups that were manufactured in Fender's Encinata factory and not in their custom shop. Therefore, the pickups were neither signed nor wound by Abigail Ybarra. That doesn't mean the pickups that come stock in this model aren't good, but they're not the real deal. It also means something else.

This means Fender, once again, found a way to cut corners by cheapening the pikups while charging the same amount of money for this strat while increasing their bottom line and depriving the consumer of the quality product offered back in 2006. Fender's website states the CP 60's strat comes stock with "Custom 69 pickups with gray bobbins." The language is misleading, but upon further research, they're Custom Encinata 69 pickups, not the Custom Shop 69 pickups. Many claim to be unable to tell the difference in the tone between the two sets; others believe the difference is night and day.

This is an excellent, excellent guitar. I go for Gilmour tones and believe me this guitar and a little filth and finger will get you there. Huge sustain for a strat with the 12" neck, something I had to get used to after 9.5" and 7.5"s. I have a used 2006 with AY initialed C69s dated 11-20-06 and it sounds beautiful clean and distorted. The only thing that might confuse you at first is the THICK poly finish, and on a guitar this good that's no deal breaker. I also have a '85 NY shop ESP strat and it's the only other guitar in my price range that rivals the Classic Player. So do yourself a favor -- find a used one, get a good set up and intonation and you'll have a guitar that will give you years of happiness (but seriously try to get a good used one, it takes a long time to break in a good strat, they aren't cars they're made to be beaten into submission!) LOVE THIS GUITAR!

Thanks to the appreciation of the yen, I was able to buy much cheaper.
I arrived late one day, so still arrives in four days, I feel not much different from buying in Japan.
Have also solid packing, failure, etc. without any damage, has arrived.
