Many of the period-correct details that made the original Jazz® basses so great are meticulously replicated in this classic vintage-vibe beauty, which features the original offset waist, ultra-slim neck and pair of vintage-style alnico magnet Jazz Bass single-coil pickups. Whether it’s early ’60s Motown, British Invasion, American garage or later-’60s heavy rock and soul, this bass embodies a fantastic era in music.

I have been playing bass for decades and some months ago acquired a used (but in 95% condition)MIM 50s Jazz Bass (Classic Series) and at a great low price. I have played Fender basses from all eras and early (JV) Squiers too. This bass has a lot going for it. It nails a 60s vibe-it is a largely accurate replica- sounds great, just like a good Jazz Bass should, is light, well built and sells new at a reasonable price, considering what you're getting.
To those who believe that a genuine Fender can only be made in the US, consider: the production of this model is shared between the USA and Mexico and shares a number of components sich as tuners, bridge, pots, with the US-built Vintage Reissue Jazz Bass.
I am not exactly sure what original pickups are fitted to this model but they do the job well, with a tight, yet warm and full sound. In any event pickup upgrades are easily accomplished on Fenders if so desired. I have no wish to ever change the originals on my bass. Played through my NYC SansAmp Bass Driver and into my GK MB150E mini-stack, this Fender sounds great!

Remember that neither bass is a genuine 60s bass- both are largely accurate replicas and sound great. Here is where price must kick in as a decider. Today Fender features some 30 models of Fender-logo Jazz Bass on its site. For the money, and given the sheer quality of the 60s Classic, you would, I believe, be hard-pressed to better this one. Its quality and sound are very close indeed to those of the US Standard Jazz Bass which is positioned, it seems, as the industry reference point- which hints of marketing prowess. That said, I very strongly recommend the Classic 60s Jazz Bass. It should be tried by anyone considering buying a new Fender 'vintage style' Jazz Bass, it really is that good.

I bought this Fender 60's Classic Jazz bass a year ago and am still highly impressed with it. I have had several different basses through the years and this is my 'main squeeze'! I have a Washburn RB-2002 which is a great bass but is a tank weighing close to half a tree, but I love it too.

I'd always wanted a Fender Jazz as my first real exposure to the electric bass was Joe Osborne who was Rick Nelson's bass player and then later on playing bass for the "Wrecking Crew" - session musicians for a lot of bands in the mid-late 60's. Joe originally played a Fender Precision bass but Fender gave him a prototype of the new 1960 Jazz to take on tour with Rick and at first didn't like it but it grew on him real fast and still plays the Jazz.

The 60's Classic, although assembled in Mexico, has all USA parts and I've played mine alongside an American Standard and didn't notice any real difference other than the AS was twice the money. My bass was set up perfect, innotation and action were right on. The sustain on this thing is truly awsome, even with the tone almost off. Normally I play with the neck pickup all the way on, the bridge pickup almost off and the tone almost off as I play mostly classic rock, blues and a little classic country. I run it on an Ampeg B2R (rack mount) head driving an 18" speaker cab. I also have a Behringer 8XL small combo amp for easy packing for small gigs and the bass sounds good on that too.

I did buy it from another retailer in which it came with a blond tweed hard shell case instead of the gig bag offered here for the same money but even with the gig bag this is one heck of a bass for it's price point and I seriously doubt I'll ever want to get another bass after using this. Did I mention that it's mighty pretty as well??!!

I bought a used one 2011. It has all the correct vintage parts (reverse elephant ear tuners, thread saddles) without the pieces that made the original difficult to play(metal covers) Made in Mexico with US parts ,so the sound is true vintage Fender. I would recommend to anyone looking for vintage vibe. It is my third Jbass (American Deluxe and Squire V) This has become my main.

I have a late 2001/early '02 version of this model and it's one of the nicest basses I've ever played. I'm probably the 3rd owner - acquired it in a swap for an AS Strat with a funky neck. It's the first J-Bass I've ever owned, but I've played a lot of them and this one beats them all.

Mine was modded with some American Custom Shop 60s-style pickups, a nice tortie pick guard and a few other cosmetic enhancements and I wouldn't change a thing about it. Well worth the bucks, especially at the current advertised price.

I usually play it through an Ampeg B-15T flip-top (or a Bassman 150 at rehearsals) and it just sounds great, each and every time.

I just bought one of these used and have been ecstatic about it. This is a superbly made instrument and sounds exactly like a Jazz Bass is supposed to. If you want a Fender Jazz Bass, buy one of these. You won't be sorry.
