5.0 out of 5 stars cannot be beat for the price!, October 17, 2010
This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
I and my wife have a regular Saturday night gig. We had been using the house pa system but were unhappy with the mix,the monitoring, etc.

We wanted to sound our best so started looking for our own pa so we could duplicate the sound that we were getting in my studio during practice. The pa had to be small/light but capable of filling a 125 seat room with loud diners/dancers.

We do a mix of Clapton, Dire Straits, some 80's hair band songs and even a few Ozzy songs depending upon the crowd.

I build very nice backing tracks in my studio and then sing lead vocals and play lead guitar live. She sings harmonies.

We needed 2 mike inputs, an input for my zoom g2 (dont carry an amp around anymore)and an input for my netbook (plays my tracks).

We set the fender up in my studio with the speakers behind us and set the mix. The sound was amazing for a 30+ pound unit.

The next Saturday we set the unit up at our gig with the speakers behind and above us and didnt have to change a thing.

This thing rocks! I never have to run the master past 60% no matter how loud the audience gets. It fills the room.

The sound is rich and full. Plenty of bass also.

The reverb is decent on vocals.

I paid $360 with free shipping!

I reccomend this pa to anyone needing to fill a 125 seat room with rock music.

a musician playing live for over 40 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, April 19, 2010
This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
For a small PA is is awesome. I use it for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and for music. It sounds great on everything! Very versatile and the portability is great. I use it mostly for amp and guitar modeling with my Line 6 Pod x3 and Variax, and again is the best. If you play live and outsideI would recommend the more powerful models(300 & 500). For a small indoor show it is great. Good lows and good highs and you can tweak the tone a little and add reverb. It snaps together in two shakes and even has a compartment for cables. It is about the size of a small suitcase and weighs about 30 lbs. The upper models have a subwoofer out which would be pretty handy if playing a larger show. But, again if you need something for a small indoor venue for guitar, singing, or public speaking of some sort this will be more than enough. I give it 5 stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but noisy, January 6, 2011
This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
I was in a pinch so I had to buy one of these from a retail store. Amazon's current price is well over $100 less -- Amazon rocks!

As far as the product itself..... the reviewer that stated the 1/4 in mic input is not loud enough is spot on. The XLR input works great though.

For me, I find the unit to be a bit noisy. It has a fairly significant hum when simply powered on with no sources connected to it, and as you connect sources that hum gets a bit more pronounced. For most applications this hum will not be a show stopper, because the sound will be turned up well enough to cover this noise.

Other than this noise floor, the sound quality is good. Puts out decent bass despite small speaker size, and probably puts out more than the stated wattage.
