3.0 out of 5 stars Portable PA System
Mobile DJ work. I use this for cocktail hours. I have used it for larger venues when traveling by plane as its clamshell design allows it to be placed in a large suitcase. It is 48# and just makes the 50# cutoff with the suitcase weight for flying. The sounds is average. don't expect a sufficient amount of low end response. It is so convenient and easy to set up. 5.0 out of 5 stars cannot be beat for the price!, October 17, 2010

I and my wife have a regular Saturday night gig. We had been using the house pa system but were unhappy with the mix,the monitoring, etc.

We wanted to sound our best so started looking for our own pa so we could duplicate the sound that we were getting in my studio during practice. The pa had to be small/light but capable of filling a 125 seat room with loud diners/dancers.

We do a mix of Clapton, Dire Straits, some 80's hair band songs and even a few Ozzy songs depending upon the crowd.

I build very nice backing tracks in my studio and then sing lead vocals and play lead guitar live. She sings harmonies.

We needed 2 mike inputs, an input for my zoom g2 (dont carry an amp around anymore)and an input for my netbook (plays my tracks).

We set the fender up in my studio with the speakers behind us and set the mix. The sound was amazing for a 30+ pound unit.

The next Saturday we set the unit up at our gig with the speakers behind and above us and didnt have to change a thing.

This thing rocks! I never have to run the master past 60% no matter how loud the audience gets. It fills the room.

The sound is rich and full. Plenty of bass also.

The reverb is decent on vocals.

I paid $360 with free shipping!

I reccomend this pa to anyone needing to fill a 125 seat room with rock music.

a musician playing live for over 40 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, April 19, 2010
This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
For a small PA is is awesome. I use it for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and for music. It sounds great on everything! Very versatile and the portability is great. I use it mostly for amp and guitar modeling with my Line 6 Pod x3 and Variax, and again is the best. If you play live and outsideI would recommend the more powerful models(300 & 500). For a small indoor show it is great. Good lows and good highs and you can tweak the tone a little and add reverb. It snaps together in two shakes and even has a compartment for cables. It is about the size of a small suitcase and weighs about 30 lbs. The upper models have a subwoofer out which would be pretty handy if playing a larger show. But, again if you need something for a small indoor venue for guitar, singing, or public speaking of some sort this will be more than enough. I give it 5 stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but noisy, January 6, 2011
This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
I was in a pinch so I had to buy one of these from a retail store. Amazon's current price is well over $100 less -- Amazon rocks!

As far as the product itself..... the reviewer that stated the 1/4 in mic input is not loud enough is spot on. The XLR input works great though.

For me, I find the unit to be a bit noisy. It has a fairly significant hum when simply powered on with no sources connected to it, and as you connect sources that hum gets a bit more pronounced. For most applications this hum will not be a show stopper, because the sound will be turned up well enough to cover this noise.

Other than this noise floor, the sound quality is good. Puts out decent bass despite small speaker size, and probably puts out more than the stated wattage.

3.0 out of 5 stars Portable PA System, October 2, 2010

Mobile DJ work. I use this for cocktail hours. I have used it for larger venues when traveling by plane as its clamshell design allows it to be placed in a large suitcase. It is 48# and just makes the 50# cutoff with the suitcase weight for flying. The sounds is average. don't expect a sufficient amount of low end response. It is so convenient and easy to set up. Small compartment in the unit holds the AC power cord and speaker cords and enough room for the connector cords to the mixer. One can also put an mp3 player into the 3.5 mm jack for a source. Tone and reverb controls for all 4 channels. Master volume. Overall a good system for its size. Not sure how I would use a powered subwoofer with it yet. Fender sells an adapter to mount both speakers to a single stand if desired. They are close together this way but can be rotated away from each other for more sound dispersion. They are so light then can be made to mount to a microphone stand.

Microphone use directly into 1/4 inch jacks is not loud enough. The 3 prong mic input is much lounder and should always be used with an appropriate microphone. I use Shure mics.

Fender has two other more powerful wattage models which I haven't listened to with similar features.

This is not a battery operated system. For that try the single speaker ION products.

My son was very excited to get this system. He is using for multiple things, small DJ, guitar amp, even as an outdoor sound system for backyard movies. The product being so versatile is great, the sound not so much. The sound is just never crips and clear, there always seems to be a little bit of "crackle" in what ever is playing.

I wish we had gone with the next size up or a different system. But, with that being said it is my son's system and not mine and he is very happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely love my Fender Passport., May 23, 2011

The passport is a fantastic portable sound system, especially for you ladies who need something fairly light to carry from room to room or studio to studio as I do, with my Zumba courses. It is very manageable.

It has a good sound system, enough for all to hear the music in a large hall or studio.

Maybe for a band or a group the 350 watts would be more preferable but for me personally, this l50 watt model is perfect.

I have tried over the years many others, but this, I must say is my all time favorite.

I was looking for a sound system big enough for an elementary school gym and this is perfect. When I turned up the volume to the max level it was actually too loud! My only complaint is that it is a kind of heavy, but I am still able to carry it.

4.0 out of 5 stars fender passport 150, November 26, 2011
This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
I just bought a used Fender Passport 150 for $199. I bought this portable PA because I was tired of lugging huge speakers and a big mixer for solo acoustic gigs. I was a little worried about the power or possible lack thereof, but I was pleasantly surprised how good this little unit sounds. I'm not sure I would use this in a crowded bar with 100+ people but it's more than capable of handling the corner bar gig where there may be 20-30 people. The speakers are pole mountable which is good. The only thing I don't like is that the speakers only have one input so you really can't use a monitor. Other than that I am very happy with this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Passport To Speaking Success, June 21, 2011

This review is from: Fender Passport 150 Pro 150-Watt Portable Sound System (Electronics)
I purchased this item so that my students can hear better when we are teaching. Our classes are getting larger and larger and I figure this will take us from the 25-50 range where we are presently teaching doctors, chiropractors, and therapists our hypnotic techniques up to the 100 or so people we expect to be teaching soon as our programs are attracting more and more attention in the media. Thank god for CBS-TV News and Good Morning America!

This Fender product does what it's supposed to do. Worked fine. Just need to get extension cords for the speakers, as the cabinets need to be further back so when we walk closer to the class there is no feedback. It would be great if there was some more detailed instructions, it only came with a quick start guide. Even some recommendations for acoustic or PA management books would be helpful. Trial and error works but does take time. Another learning curve! Ahh!

I hope to have all the bugs worked out in our audio techniques by the time we do our exclusive Retreat Re-Patterning Seminar at the International Spa for Health and Rejuvenation, we have scheduled for next year.
