I have an early 2007 model. This bass replaced an 80s American '57 Reissue P-Bass with a (way too big) maple fretboard/neck. The old one sounded great but the neck was just too huge. We replaced the stock pickup with the USA "Original '62" P-Bass model, the OEM wiring with cloth stuff, the OEM pots with CES models, the stock jack with a nice Switchcraft model and subbed an Orange Drop capacitor. The end result was a darn nice sounding P-Bass with a neck that was much easier to work with.Added a tortie pick guard, chrome covers, aftermarket rounded knobs, strap locks and a nice Gator ATA case and at that point this became my "first-out" bass for R&R gigs and it has retained that status since 2007. If you don't mind a little fuss-work after the sale, you can't beat this model for an economical alternative to the high-end U.S. versions and you'll wind up with a bass that's fun to play and that won't put you in the poor house getting it the way you like it. |
