About the Author

I came into this life with an unquenchable thirst for the truth. My trek has taken me 46 years, only to find that all I had to do was to pay attention. Like most others, I just knew it had to be an exhausting journey, and set out to make it as difficult as I possibly could. "Suffering is truth", right? Wrong! I just knew that, before I left this life, I wanted all of the answers. My problem came halfway through the journey, when I discovered I didn't have all of the questions. Thus, there was no way the answers would come. I stopped mid-stream and began to look around. The only reason that I told you this, is that I see you, too, have an inquiring mind! I have passionately studied religion, psychology, astrology, numerology, chromo-therapy and candle therapy, if you get the gist, and it all came down to one thing - "To thine own self be true", and "thine own self", I have now found, to be the combination of Candle Lighting and Feng Shui. I moved to the Atlanta area in 1984. Soon after, I began to hear about Feng Shui. It was supposed to be some kind of "wind, water, move-all-of-your-stuff-around" cure for everything. Believing in everything, and being convinced of nothing, I began to read a few books, take a few classes and become aware that something was up here, but I wasn't really sure what it was. Everything seemed to be so complicated - east, west, career, helpful people?

Then, all of a sudden, as I was writing The Candle Lighting Encyclopedia Volume II, I began to feel the "chi" that everyone had been talking about. I began to feel how the "chi" could change. It was one thing to know that there was an energy that could solicit happiness, peace of mind and success, and another energy that brought with it an antagonistic environment, sadness and poor health, but to actually feel it, see it and create situations and watch it change, really showed me that something was happening around me - and that something was Feng Shui. After years of study, and as many involved in serious research, I am convinced that there is nothing in my life as powerful as I have found in combining the ancient art of Candle Lighting with the aged science of Feng Shui.

From chapter one

The ancient practice of candle lighting to purpose, accomplished by the sages of long ago, has been brought back to life by Tina Ketch, in her series of books entitled the Candle Lighting Encyclopedias. The ancients mastered the effectiveness of lighting colored candles at certain times for different reasons. Many people throughout the ages accepted this practice as it was defined and refined. The Catholic Church acknowledged the importance of candle lighting, thus implementing this practice for ceremonial occasions such as: High Mass, Lent and Benediction. The Catholic Church was not the only religion to recognize the importance of lighting candles. The soothing abeyance of the candlelight, and the change of the demeanor of those who lit the candles, as well as those who observed the candles being lit, was dramatic. The effects were positive and uplifting.

Feng Shui, pronounced "Fung Shway", is a science developed in China over 4000 years ago. Feng Shui translates to wind, (which you cannot touch) and water, (which you cannot harness). Feng Shui is the harmony of the elements, and the placement of objects to enhance the positive flow of the elemental energy. There are two complementing aspects. One is "chi", which meanders, and the other is "shar chi", which travels very fast. The "chi" is the energy which flows freely, over hills and gentle valleys. The Chi does not go around sharp objects. This chi is referred to as the "cosmic dragons' breath", which promotes prosperity, happiness and good health. Chi is yang energy.

When there are obstructions of this chi, the chi will encounter what is called "shar chi", or yin energy. Shar chi travels in straight lines and around straight corners. The shar chi is the killing breath, which will overcome the dragons breath, or chi. The shar chi is dangerous. It is the killing breath that solicits poor health and hostile emotions.

Chi will solicit positive changes in your life, the same as lighting certain candles at the appropriate times to obtain your hearts desires, or to manifest a change in your life. The shar chi is common to lighting the right candle, but at the wrong time, thus sending away that which you had hoped for.

In this book, we will be combining these two ancient sciences, delving into an empowering aspect of our life. First, we will discuss Feng Shui. Second, we will discuss Candle Lighting, and third, we will be putting them both together for a powerful life-changing science.

The readiness of most people, and the willingness to learn, has brought us all to this point. Our journey will be short, but the destiny through which we will be traveling will be vastly rewarding. It no longer takes a lifetime to achieve a single goal. The chi has opened up for all to partake, with vast rewards and successful living. Open your hearts and minds, for it is time to begin.

Feng Shui Candle Lighting is the most advantageous book of our time. It opens up a whole new world of possibilities by combining two ancient, proven arts of self-improvement and self-motivation. It, also, provides the reader with the tools necessary to help keep others from interfering and/or standing in your way. It uses ancient art and common sense, spirituality and reality to help you create that which we all want, and some find hard to attain. If you're tired of beating your head against that proverbial wall, then MOVE THE WALL! Get this book and learn to LIVE and LIVE WELL!

I have read other books pertaining to Feng Shui and about lighting candles. None of the other books come close in providing the information like Tina Ketch's book Feng Shui Candle Lighting. Her indepth information and knowledge far succeed's where other authors fail to assist you in your everyday living. I never leave home without this book and I am always telling and teaching other individuals about how Tina's book out does other books about Feng Shui and Candle Lighting. HATS OFF TO TINA! WELL RESEARCHED AND INFORMATIVE!

I am amazed at the facts and descriptions in this book, all which make so much sense. In this book, we are priviledged to find that our life can be so good and so easy, if we will only go by what we learn hear to be true. By taking the ancient and spirtual art of candle lighting, and putting it together with the ancient and proven art of Feng Shui, we find that we can become the best we can - in an environment that is conducive to us doing just that. It all just makes so much sense - and it works!
