5.0 out of 5 stars Feng Shui Demystified II: A Must Have!, August 3, 2005
By
Joseph Rippy (Knoxville, TN USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Feng Shui Demystified II: A Comprehensive Course on Flying Star Feng Shui and Famous Water Formulae (Paperback)
Please see my review on "Feng Shui Demystified", the first book by Mr. Lippelt. As high as my praise may have been originally, I am now convinced as to Mr. Lippelt's fantastic knowledge of Classical Feng Shui. Upon reading this second book and finally trying to read between the lines, I realized how logic and a full grasp of the basics as presented in both works are paramount in applying the formulae he has presented. This second work reiterates many of the things presented in the previous work, but in such a fashion as to see the material with new eyes. But, this is not to infer that the second work is but a rehash of the first. Far from it. It is a presentation that now offers not only greater depth of previously discussed concepts but now presents the reader/student with a workable knowledge of difficult topics such as the Water Formulas generally not mentioned in detail in other books or course work. These water methods, along with the discussion of how to read the energies of a palace, and the Host/Guest Relationship of energies make this work worth the purchase. As they say though, it does not stop there. I feel these two books are priceless and both are neccessary to better understand Feng Shui in a Classical sense.

Mr. Lippelt above all presents other approaches of Feng Shui as practiced by differing schools but not in a diminishing light. What is asked of the reader is for him or her to think for themselves concerning issues that may seem far differing in approach to a particular issue. With a grasp of the correct basics, a time and place for different approaches may each find their merit when the right situation is at hand for their use. To convey this to the reader is quite rare in that most authors prefer their particular posture on a subject as the most correct. Again, what is neccessary is a discerning mind willing to view a topic from more than one angle. I hope that you will read these works and enjoy the knowlege presented by Mr. Lippelt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best book in Fengshui details., November 25, 2005
This review is from: Feng Shui Demystified II: A Comprehensive Course on Flying Star Feng Shui and Famous Water Formulae (Paperback)
The books FS Demystified I and II are for intermediate/advanced levels. They are used as reference book.
It shows water placement,
replacement stars, and a lot of things...This info is very hard to find anywhere. The important thing of the books are that they make more sense from FS.
If anyone is seriously interested in FS, I highly recommend the best list of books that you must have as follows. From (basic/intermediate), intermediate to advanced level.
1- The complete Idiot of FS - Elizabeth Moran, buy 2nd edition not the 3rd edition. Do not read the 4th pillar section,it is very hard to follow. Read 'Four Pillar and Oriental medicine'
2- Flying star FS - Stephen Skinner
3- FS Demystified I and II - Ulrich Wilhelm Lippelt
4- Flying Star FS made easy - This book is excellent if you already know most of FS. It summarizes Flying star
techniques. Likely, you will need this book to apply Flying Star
Supplemental book: Four Pillar and Oriental medicine.

You don't make mistake with the above book.

4.0 out of 5 stars confusing, yet intriguing, April 10, 2011
If you get this book, then you won't need to get Feng Shui Demystified I, as this book simply is a more comprehensive version of that book. In addition, you can get this book for much cheaper if you are willing to just get it in pdf form (it is sold in other places on the web).
I will say that with the typos, and the fact that the author's native tongue is not english, and also with all the different formulas that sometimes intersect with each other and what other books say, that this will be a confusing experience for some people who study flying star feng shui. For example, his notation for mountain/earth/water star is like this 2/5/8. In other words, you have to hunt around the book to see which number goes to which position. He also says in many sections that if water comes from this direction, then it is auspicious. Does that mean that the water goes toward the direction from an outside location, does it mean that there is a water feature there, or does it mean that water originates there and goes in some unknown direction? This is not made clear. In addition, I read the castle gate formula in the book several times. Despite reading it several times, I could never understand how to replicate the formula on paper since his explanation was so terse. The formula is in the book, it's just that I don't understand it.
Still, his book is the only book in which I've seen certain formulas written in english, and for this reason, I would recommended it if you are an advanced learner for flying star feng shui. It would not be my #1 pick for a flying star feng shui book, as I do not agree with some of the formulas/methods in written in the book based on personal experience.
The idiot's guide to feng shui second edition is the best feng shui is still, imo, the best flying star feng shui book out there (I've only read about 15 books on feng shui so far though...) and if you are on a limited budget would be the book I would recommend. I've had the best success following the flying star feng shui advice in this book along with some feng shui advice from non-flying star methods (such as those books from Lillian Too - although her methods are hit and miss).
Feng Shui Demystified will get you thinking. I wouldn't say that it demystified feng shui for me, but it does make you think and question about different methods as well as try and experiment with them.
