Book Description

March 1, 1998
Good feng shui occurs when all the elements of a space--the balance of light and dark, the orientation of doors, windows and wall, the angle of furniture--are arranged so that energy ("ch'i") flows smoothly. Based on traditional Chinese designs, the "Feng Shui Game Pack" provides an easy-to-understand, entertaining introduction to this ancient philosophy. Box includes game board, 64-page book and 100 cards.

My wife and I bought this game pack to help us plan the mve into a new house. Unfortunately, the instructions seem to be missing some major steps. If anyone has figured out how to play, pls email me at pfr@rousmaniere.com and I would be very gratefyl.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, bad directions, January 10, 2002

This review is from: Feng Shui Game Pack (Hardcover)
The book that accompanies the game pack is helpful in describing the principles of Feng Shui. Unfortunately the directions to play the game were really imprecise. So go ahead and read the book, but only play the game if you are willing to make up some of the rules yourself. Prepare yourself for hours of frustration...

1.0 out of 5 stars Feng Shui Game isn't very Feng Shui-ie, July 19, 2008
By
This review is from: Feng Shui Game Pack (Hardcover)
How is this game supposed to help me learn feng shui again? I have no idea, because the instructions are terrible. How am I supposed to struggle my way up to "Chi master" (the "hardest level") if they don't even tell you what qualifications you need to become one? What are the changes in levels? I could feel the "sha" disjoint my room simply because the game was in it. Instead of arranging furniture, you play a game more similiar to dominos than an ancient Chinese way of life. For a game designed to teach others about harmonious living, it provided us with hours of frustration. DON'T BE TEMPTED BY ITS CUTE PACKAGING!

Advice/Notes to Game Designers:
1) Make sure the tiles actually fit on the little squares printed on the board. It's a little disbalancing to have your ying and yang hanging off the board and crooked. So much for feng shui.

2) Make sure there are rules!

3) Connect the game to what we are trying to learn. How is playing dominos supposed to help me learn feng shui? I was hoping for a lot more than just arranging chi and sha.

4) The instruction booklet didn't really provide easy or new insight. Granted, there is probably nothing uncovered by now in feng shui, but I wanted more than just the basics.

5) I played this with my uncle.... he's scarred now. He checked himself into the mental institution because the tiles were to large for the board.

6) We found ourselves laughing at the stupidity of it more than anything else.

7) The longer we played, the more disorganised and disjointed it became. Again, the dreaded tiles. FIX THE TILES PLEASE! I'm OCD, I need it to match up.

8) Speaking of OCD, if you are OCD (or CDO if you prefer :P), don't buy this.

9) If you are cruel and know an OCD person, buy this game.

10) These items not included but should be: a stress ball, a strait-jacket
