About the Author

Clear Englebert has practiced and taught feng shui in Hawaii and California since 1995. A recognized feng shui expert, he has been featured on television programs and in print media and has published two previous feng shui titles for a national audience, Feng Shui Demystified and Bedroom Feng Shui, both available in revised editions.

More About the Author

I am a feng shui consultant, teacher, speaker, and author. I consult in homes, gardens, and commercial spaces throughout Hawaii, and (via telephone) throughout the world.

I began a career in the book business at age 15. I founded three bookstores, the first in 1971. With decades of experience in retail visual merchandising, I began consulting for homes and businesses on Hawaii in 1994. My feng shui practice, begun on Hawaii, blossomed when I moved to San Francisco in 1996. There I was featured on the popular television program Evening Magazine and the Mandarin-language TV program Evening News, as well as the San Francisco Chronicle. I returned to Hawaii in 2002, and have been featured in Pacific Business News, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and Hawaii Tribune-Herald. I have also been featured in the Okinawan Times and other Japanese newspapers.

I couldn't practice feng shui if I didn't believe in it, and I wouldn't believe in it if I hadn't seen it work. I feel that my Libra-Rabbit astrological traits suit me to feng shui consulting. I brings practical skills in organizing, merchandising, staging, and horticulture to My work. My Form School (Landform) feng shui practice is noted for accommodating the client's aesthetics and common sense, and for avoiding consumerism and superstition. I want my clients and students to know why they're doing something. It is, after all, their home.

My website, fungshway.com, reviews feng shui books and related literature. I am working on three books: Feng Shui for Temperate Gardens, Feng Shui with House Plants, and Feng Shui with Collectibles.

This is the most user friendly book on Feng Shui I have ever read. I bought it while living in Hawai'i and I am continuing to use it while in Northern California. The basic information applies in any location and this book is filled with beautiful photographs, especially helpful for those of us who learn best and most quickly visually. I was fortunate to hear Clear Englebert speak while I was in Hawai'i and he writes in the same engaging and solution oriented manner. This is the first time I have felt both inspired and confident to make the necessary changes without feeling I need to make a significant time or financial investment first. I love this book and have given it to several friends as gifts. Unlike many Feng shui books, this is a simple one with many easy and unobstusive "fixes" to common feng shui problems in our homes.

Decorating isn't usually my thing. But lately I have been trying to get my home in order and pleasing to my eye. In the past I have read many books on decorating and have, as usual, remained confused, uninspired and done nothing. I have also found books about feng shui fascinating but confusing. However, the book, Feng Shui for Hawai'i is different. It isn't confusing at all. It isn't a book that dictates the latest decorating trends and will soon be obsolete. This book is very user friendly. The photography is absolutely beautiful and the diagrams are extremely helpful. The author explains everything in detail without being boring. I find myself being inspired and thinking I can actually do this.

I am in the process of redoing our bathroom and am constantly referring to this book when I don't know exactly what to do. One of my favorite parts of the book is the author's suggestions and practical solutions with photos and diagrams to every room in your home. It even has solutions for the outside of your home. It's not a book for just residences of Hawaii but for homes everywhere. I live in the south and find this book very helpful.

Feng Shui for Hawai'i by Clear Englebert is a must have reference book for me.

I just finished reading "Feng Shui for Hawaii" in one sitting and I absolutely loved it! In fact, I just ordered Clear Englebert's other books. The information is written in a straight-forward manner that is easy to understand. I loved his style of writing and the beautiful photos and diagrams that helped explain his points. Clear has done a great job of putting this information into plain English. I am also a feng shui consultant and Clear has given me many new understandings that I can apply in my work. I really appreciate his wisdom and can't wait for his other books to arrive. A great big thank you!

I, too, love this book. The pictures are great and the author has a very effective writing style. It's easy to understand and the concepts make total sense. You should read and re-read this very PRACTICAL book. He gives a lot of options to "repair" a feng shui faux pas if the obvious repair is not do-able. Although written for Hawaii, you could implement most of these feng shui principals wherever in the world you live.
