dance in harmony with spirit,
By Katharina (Oakland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Feng Shui Tune Up (Audio CD)
I listened to a copy of the CD this morning and have been listening to it non-stop. I have been really moved with Professor Lin's chanting and Marina Lighthouse's melodic tones. The music is stunningly beautiful, smoothing your room's chi and relaxing as well as uplifting your energy. The combination of classical Chinese and Tibetan chants and harmonious contemporary music creates a wonderful music for meditation, yoga sessions or just any time you feel like dancing with spirit! I have often been on the long search for just this piece of art! Thank you.

The Origin of Marina Towers,
By
This review is from: Feng Shui Tune Up (Audio CD)
1978 or was it nine... Instamoids, a fledgling "power pop" band stationed in Redwood City CA, were searching for a lead singer. Specifically, the searcher was Ray Gun, the band's originator, songwriter and guitarist.
Don T. Stopp, drummer, stumbled upon three punkette wannabes, one of which being the gal that Ray enthroned as lead singer Marina Towers. Although the band wasn't any better, it was certainly more popular for a while, with a perfectly horrible single to capture itself in time. But Ray and Marina also had a doomed romance riding alongside and when it ended, so did her position. The band went on under the new name of The Breeders (no relation to the 90s band of the same name), then crumbled at its peak in 1981 or was it two. Whatever happened to Marina has been a mystery until this editorial reference to "The Marina Towers Band," and maybe to Marina herself. As for the material under review here, no idea, but the samples are pleasant. Thanks, whoever you are, for an amusing tag to an earlier life.
