Fenghuang Dancong (Dragon Phoenix) is a dark oolong has a long history as a tribute tea. According to Chinese tradition, a tribute tea was the highest grade of tea, reserved for emperor or high officials. The Chinese people paid their taxes with this tea. The tea itself was the tribute each member of the society was expected to offer to the leaders. Today all are free to partake of this oolong delicacy, made of dark, extremely fragrant strips. Dragon Phoenix tea comes from the Guangdong Province of China, where it is drunk in small, concentrated (1 oz) cups, which are almost intoxicating. Brewed in this way the tea steeps for less than one minute using lightly boiling water. Can be used 2 or three times and still preserve the rich dark aromas.
