Well, let me tell you that this light blows the surefire out of the water, I almost blinded my wife the first time I showed her. The quality of the light is top notch and the brightness is totally unbelievable. Our cat got out the other night and while using it to search for him around our hood I must have woken up 4 neighbors with the light this thing kicks out. My neighbors thought it was a spotlight not a small hand held flashlight.
Would I recommend this to others, you bet your butt I would.
now onto the reason this flashlight didn't get 5 stars. when i was reading reviews on this light someone else noted that the back button sticks out further than the pieces that surround the button, making it impossible to stand this flashlight on its butt at first i didn't think i would care about this, but now that i have had it and used it for a few months, i can say that there was at least one time when i wanted to stand it on its butt and couldn't. its bizarre that they would design it this way and the only reason i can think of is to make the on/off button as accessible as possible when you are in a pinch and need your light turned on right away. the second bad thing i have found is that the button that transitions between settings is smooth. it is actually the same feel as the surrounding surface.Read more ›
The strobe feature found on this and others like it produced an invaluable effect.
My daughter had a blow out on the down side of a hill. This happened on interstate 244 east bound side near Tulsa. This area is plagued with road construction and heavy traffic.
The shoulders are narrow and hazardous to park on let alone change a tire on the drivers side.
This happened during rush hour and was extremely dangerous compounded by being on the back side of a hill top. I arrived in an H2 Hummer with a jack she needed to make the repairs. I parked 50 feet behind her and turned on my hazard lamps to hopefully draw attention to this situation. As I looked up the hill top 3/4 of a mile away. I could not help but note that virtually no relief was being enjoined by my hazard flashers. Cars and 18 wheelers alike were blowing past us just inches away. Needless to say this was a most uncomfortable situation for us. My 3 year old grandson was in her car.I was hoping a trooper would come by to aid in the support of this repair. I started to call one for help.
Then it came to me. I had my light with the strobe feature on it. I turned it on and placed it on my back bumper facing on coming traffic. In no time at all. The cars started to slow down and get over into the far lane. This was just what we needed to reduce the danger level to make the repairs. I was amazed by this effect. Finished the repair and was ready to send her on ahead. Then comes the trying to get back into traffic problem. If you have ever been on the side of the highway like this you already know how hard is to get back into the driving lane. I turned on the strobe again and shined it back up the hill. Once again it cleared the way to safely get back in the driving lane.Read more ›
