5.0 out of 5 stars revel in the jealousy of others
I'm a big gadget guy. I like just about anything that involves taking a simple concept and making it fricken awesome. A flashlight is a simple concept and this torch is awesome! 2.0 out of 5 stars light color changes after 10 hours of use
The product works as expected. Light output initially was awesome, but now the white light has turned yellowish. It appears the LED burned out after less than 10 hours of use. It says in the manual "cannot run on high for more than 10 min maximum", which is the only reason I can see why it failed.

Too bad I bought it from the internet, otherwise I would...

I'm a big gadget guy. I like just about anything that involves taking a simple concept and making it fricken awesome. A flashlight is a simple concept and this torch is awesome! The single LED packs an amazing punch on it's regular level and if you adjust the light to full power it's like holding a car's high beam in your hand. This is not the most powerful led flashlight, but it does use aa batteries instead of CR123s which to me is a huge bonus, and is extremely rugged after having dropped it a few times. Ditch your 3 foot maglite running on 8 D cell batteries and see the light! I definitely would recommend it to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Damn bright, January 2, 2008
By
I've been wearing a Mini-Mag for about ten years now. I was holding off going to LED until I found a good quality light of the same size, and I was kinda waiting until MagLite released an update to their MiniMag. To my disappointment, their new one is longer (not by much, but enough to be off-putting), and more importantly, still used the twist mechanism to turn the light on and off. Since I wear mine all the time, I'm always accidentally turning it on when I'm sitting down (the head rubs against something and twists).

So I hit the forums to see what was recommended, and the Fenix L2T was always held in high regard. The metal body is exactly the same length as the old MiniMag; only the rubber cap for the button sticks out a bare fraction of an inch longer. It just arrived today, and I'm very impressed with the brightness. It is *way* brighter than my old Mini-Mag. At first I put some new batteries in it when comparing. I then put my old batteries in the Fenix and the new batteries in the Mag, and it was still *way* brighter. I don't think a fistful of conventional bulb MiniMags could match the brightness of this light. The push-button tailcap is a big plus since I won't have to worry about accidentally turning it on now (many times I've found my batteries dead in my old MiniMag because the light had twisted on and I hadn't realized it). Turning the head simply switches between high and low output.

My only gripe is that the flashlight holster is not really made to fit on a belt, but the old holster for the Mini-Mag fits it perfect.

If you're looking for a replacement for an old MiniMag, this light is great. If I didn't carry it around, the MiniMag LED would probably suffice; I've seen them in person, and they're pretty bright, and seem to use the same tube body just with a longer head. But I figure I'll be wearing this thing for another ten years, and the extra cost is worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Burned LED, November 14, 2010
This review is from: Fenix® L2T V2.0 Flashlight
The problem with my Fenix L2T light is that the high setting is too high and burned out the LED. The low setting is too low to be useful. Fenix should have put more aluminum in the head of this flashlight to draw the heat away or reduced the output of the high setting, so it wouldn't burn out the LED.

5.0 out of 5 stars best light i have ever owned, July 30, 2010
This review is from: Fenix® L2T V2.0 Flashlight (Sports)
The guy who left a bad review must have got a bad one. I have had this nearly two years and use it nightly. Its britghter than a full size d mag light and fits in your pocket - the quality of the switch and the bulb are amazing. Never have to worry about replacing another mag light bulb again! A little bump with an old style mag light and its lights out..not with this one. And the mag light is always dead due to the twist switch......no more with this!!!!! And like i said its as bright as the D cell.

I have purchased more than 1 light over the $50 range. This is the only light that has ever delivered. I have more than 1 fenix light.......once you go fenix you will never buy another light at walmart again. I dont write reviews but i felt i owed it to fenix - finally a company that delivers on quality. All other company's even decent ones just make the light look fancy and charge you 50 to 100 - in two days your slapping it against your leg and wishing someone could just make one that works. Shouldnt be that hard - bulb -switch and a battery!! how hard can it be - Aparently its harder than it looks -fenix actually delivers on quality!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great light for it's price, September 14, 2010

This review is from: Fenix® L2T V2.0 Flashlight (Sports)
This light has replaced my big fat mag-lite. It's much brighter and a whole lot smaller and lighter. I've had it for many months and have yet to have to change the batteries. I've used it several times when I've had to install insulation in the attic, lay cable wire for cat6 and cable coaxial again in the attic, when I've gone hiking, when I walk my dogs and for nightly inspections around houses. It acts as a flood light to light up a large area, it's over kill for inside a computer or behind the TV, you'll most likely blind yourself from the light that bouncing off the area that you are spotlighting. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a high value, high quality light. I doubt you can find something at this size, weight and price point with this kind of performance, durability and battery life. The mag-lite's main strength is it's 20 dollar price point and the fact that it doubles as a bludgeon. I was a little wary at paying over 30 dollars for a flashlight but after turning on the flashlight once inside a dark room all concerns evaporated, when I turned it on the first time, I was able to see every corner of the room with ease, I was surprised with how much light was coming out of the light. I'm no flashlight expert but I was happy with my purchase. It's crazy getting this much satisfaction with a flashlight, of all things, but it's the truth, Fenix has made me a believer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Prefer the E20/E21 over this model, December 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fenix® L2T V2.0 Flashlight
I bought this light after owing the E20 and liking it so much. After having it a couple of weeks I decided to send it back.

Although it has two light levels I pretty much only use the higher level so the lower level really wasn't much use. On the high level you can't run more than ten minutes without potentially damaging the light. IMO a huge negative. I have run my E20 for well over an hour straight a number of times with no problem.

While this one is rated brighter than the E20 to my "untrained" eye I couldn't tell much difference and actually prefered the E20 beam projection more than L2T. I compared them side by side.

Overall I did not feel I was upgrading with the L2T and feel for the money and the ability to run on full output without restriction the E20 or its replacement the E21 is a better value. Not saying this isn't a good light because if your using just a regular flashlight this will be a tremendous upgrade. Just rating it relative to another fenix that is IMO a better value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright Light, AA's, Easy to hold, August 20, 2009

We have multiple flashlights. Some put out more light than this one but anything you point this light at you will see clearly. We keep this one in the car. Small diameter fits under the arm-rest between the front seats and nicely in the hand.

Brighter versions of this type use CR123 batteries. Each put out 3V, twice AA's 1.5V. BUT CR123 batteries are not generally available like the AA's. And CR123's often cost quite a bit more unless you buy them through the internet.

We use flashlights like portable lamps. Keep one handy in Bedrooms to find things in the closets. Keep one on the nite-stand for low light middle of the night needs. Portable light usage can be handy if you keep it in mind. Looking under the bed, shelves in the garage after dark. Yes you can turn on the switch but this type puts MUCH more light where you point it than any area light.

Often take walks in local park with our Golden Retriever after dark. This flashlight makes it fun. Now you have a nice reason to spend more than you ever imagined for a flashlight!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Light with Caveats, December 13, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fenix® L2T V2.0 Flashlight
First I want everyone to know that I am a flashlight junky. I have old all sorts of flashlight and want people to know that this flash light is, so far, the brightest in my collection

That being said here is a quick run down:

Pros:
1) super bright (only in high beam mode)
2) solid feel (battery do not jiggle around in the enclosure)
3) uses AA batteries

Cons:
1) low light mode is useless
2) light head gets warm after a minute of high beam mode light use
3) weird control to switch between high and low beam mode

To reiterate, this is one bright flashlight. I have owned two Romisen flashlights with cree LED and they were bright when I bought them. This flashlight easily blows them away. Even the Romisen that uses CR123 batteries is not as bright as this flashlight! The feel is solid and pretty smooth on the edges, not like some of the cheap chinese knock-off flashlight with sharp, or rough edges.

What I don't like about the flashlight is that it does get warm but not hot after a minute of use on high beam mode. I only raise this concern because it may affect the longevity of the LED bulb. I have a Fenix L0D and that doesn't get hot after minutes of use. But then again it's using only 1 AAA battery so I can't really compare. Also I don't like the fact that the low beam mode It's too dim to be used. Fenix should've made a medium mode.

One final thought: Even though previous reviews has state some bad things about this flashlight, I would recommend to discount those reviews because they did not include all the information. They probably abused the light or something to get it to break.

Here is what the manual explicitly says: "UNDER HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE, please do not use the High Mode for more than 10 minutes continuously, doing so MAY harm the BATTERIES or/and the flashlight."
Seriously people, if you are going to review, please include everything.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, 1 minor glaring flaw, October 19, 2010
This review is from: Fenix® L2T V2.0 Flashlight (Sports)
This is a brilliant LED flashlight. I'm amazed at how far LED technology has come that allows for such a brilliant flashlight.
In fact, the only problem I have is that if you put this flashlight on high power just a little too tight you get a high-pitched electronic squeal.
