Great light for tactical use. Sturdy and powerful. At close range the 285 lumens are enough to cause a normal person to turn away in outside in broad daylight. In a room with lights on at a range of 10ft: could not see the immediate area behind flashlight, i.e. could not make out face, light was annoying. At 5ft: Could not make out torso, light was aggravating, required focus to keep from turning head/closing eyes. At night this light creates the dazzling effect upon illumination, disorienting.

This flashlight has a lower power mode as well, accessed with a 1/8 turn of head. If I was to use this as a day to day flashlight I would desire more power options such as a super low output mode. However, for me this is strictly mounted on a weapon so it is not a big deal.

I have used three different flashlights from Surefire. One personal and two of them were Army issue; those lights went through two tours with me and they didn't have any problems. Some of my friends carried Fenix lights and have said the same thing about their dependability. I believe that you are getting just as good a light with Fenix as you do with Surefire but for half to a third of the price. If I didn't believe that I would not have purchased this light for my Home Defense weapon. I am very impressed with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

I was a little aprehensive about buying this light but I trusted the majority of reviews and I am not dissapointed. I received this light just before the 4th of July. We were setting off fireworks in a field behind my house where it is very dark. My brother in law who is a cop (and a tactical nut) asked if I had a flashlight, well when I turned it on high his first response was what the HECK is that and where do I get one. It lit up the area they were in from about 50 yards away like a spotlight was on them.
I have used it at work exclusively since I bought it and have received many compliments on the quality of the light and the brightness. I will definitely be looking at purchasing more lights from Fenix.

This is the second Fenix flashlight I've purchased. The first was the little tiny one that goes on your keychain. I purchased this because I was very happy with the first one. I left it in my pocket one time and sent it through the washing machine. I didn't realize till I saw it sitting at the bottom of the tub after the cycle was over. I fretting thinking that I just wasted $30. Much to my amazement it turned on without any hesitation. After that I was sold on this brand.

I started a new job in high rise building maintenance and needed a stronger flashlight. I opted for this TK11. I call it the TanK! This thing is incredible. I use it cumulatively during the day for about an hour. Off and on etc. The batteries last about ~5 weeks with this usage. It's very bright and focused and really illuminates clearly the dark areas of our building.

That's all well and good, but many flashlights can be bright. The Fenix TK11 however is extraordinarily durable. I already talked about sending my first little Fenix light through the laundry. This one I did even better. I was looking over a storm drain pit that we have. I was about 15' up over this pit. While moving across the opening I dropped my light. It fell the 15' onto a concrete pad then rolled into 2' of water. There it sat for about an hour till I got down to fish it out. The dang thing still lit up UNDER WATER! I took it back and just dried it out. Not a problem. It's a tough son of a gun. It's pretty pricey for a flashlight, but dang it's worth it.

I bought the fenix tk11 as a replacement for my academy issued Stinger flashlight, it's amazing how much better this little tk11 is than my previous, for starters...

The tk11 is 258 lumens (in high beam mode) (not 285), but is still plenty enough light for nighttime car stops, and is excellent for searches of people/vehicles/houses,etc. If you workout doors and ever need a backup light this thing is it. High beam is supposed to last almost 3 hours continuous.

The 60 lumens (low beam mode) is enough light for nighttime report writing, reading a book, and perfect for camping or outdoor hiking. If you do field exercises in the military the low mode would work great at night, (just get a red lense if it's required). The low beam mode is supposed to last 14 hours.

Now for the charging, I read some poor reviews for the Tenergy Multifunctional Charger, so I purchased the Tenergy 2 channel battery charger, I would highly recommend it. It usually takes 2-3 hours to charge both batteries (sometimes less).
For general use get 2 tenergy batteries + charger pack.
For constant use I would get the 4 battery + charger pack.

The light comes with several ways to mount the light to yourself, a string lanyard or a nylon and velcro holster. I have used the holster with my police rig and it has held up perfect thus far.
The flashlight itself is only about 5 inches long and very light as it's made of aluminum.

The power in this small size(Fenix TK11 R5) is spectacular. It could use another lower setting for general use. Mine arrived with a problem. The LED stays on at a very dim level (not bright enough to use) when the battery cap is tightened, which it must be for the switch to work. I can't get it to turn off except by loosening the battery cap. Is this poor workmanship? I am waiting for a 18650 battery to see if it is the CR123's. No worries though, because sportinggerunlimited will either replace it or give me $30 refund if I keep it - excellent trustworthy seller.
I FIXED THE PROBLEM, JUST TOOK APART THE BATTERY CAP AND WIPED IT OUT. PROBABLY WAS A BIT OF OIL RESIDUE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE 18650'S WORK PERFECTLY NOW, BUT THE CR123'S STILL KEEP THE EMITTER ON ALL THE TIME.
