He says it is the BEST flashlight he has ever owned.
Rosemary Weymouth
We live in a semi-rural area and having a good flashlight to light the way and illuminate any wayward critters while walking the dogs at night is very important.
Rebecca
The finish and quality is very good and I'm happy with this light.

I bought this flashlight after realizing that there are flashlights way better than my old 4D mag light. This thing is a beast, I am sure you can buy other lights that have more lumens and what not, but this thing uses AA's, no need to worry about Li-ion and the troubles/cost that comes with those.

This light has impressed every single person that has seen it. Everyone thought I was crazy when I told them I bought a $130 flashlight that is until they saw what it could do.

I had the light long enough that I decided to get 16 of the amazon basic NiMH 2000mAh and a BC-700 Lacross Charger which has made for a great set up.

Pros-
Quality of machining
Brightest AA flashlight ever
Hidden SOS and Strob modes

Cons-
Has a greenish tint (only discernible indoors)
The mode switch on the side is not very sensitive, (it takes a deliberate and often repeated effort to change modes)

Over all great!

This is what I like about this light:
- "2 D" size, fits my hand nicely.
- Uses standard batteries that I can find anywhere.
- Separate buttons for on/off and mode changes. I can not put into family friendly words now much I hate, truly HATE flashlights with a single on/off/mode button, especially if they have a ton of level and flashing modes. I don't want a flashlight to have an " user interface" I need to learn. Come on, it's a flashlight! Anyway, the implementation here is good. Hit one button to turn it on and off, another button to cycle the modes.
- Fit and finish is superb.

Other observations:

Yes, the color isn't perfect. Mine is purplish in the spill regions and a little greenish in the center at the brightest setting. The low settings are a little purple/blue. It's a total non issue in real world usage as far as I'm concerned.

The low setting is perfect for around the house and confined spaces. The highest setting lights up whatever you point it at like the sun.

As of the date of this review, the U2 version isn't any more expensive than the previous version. Just look around. I wouldn't pay extra for U2.

Update 1/24/13: One important thing I forgot to mention is that this flashlight does not appear to use a PWM to achieve different light levels. What that means is that it doesn't flash the LED for different lengths of time or, if it does, it's at such a high frequency that you can't see it. If they did use that technique to change the output it would be incredibly annoying in a light like this because you'll be using the lower power modes often.

This is the perfect all-purpose flashlight. It runs on double (aa) batteries (Eneloops last forever) and has a very low light at the bottom level, and a very bright light (860 lumens) at top level. This means that the low level is perfect for around the house duties. I use the low level for reading in bed, putting it on the pillow, above my shoulder. After burning through too many cheap book lights, I returned to my childhood use of flashlight reading. This is comfortable and at low power, it lasts more than 200 hours without needing a charge.

The higher levels are perfect for outdoors, with the brightest level of great value, particularly in rural areas. I use the high level to chase off skunks from the yard, as well as for dog walking. Anyone living in or near the woods will appreciate the strong "Turbo" level.

It is also used as a home defense, as the bright flashing at 860 lumens, in the dark, will make it impossible for an intruder to see.

Strong, well made, but lightweight, it is the perfect flashlight for everything from garage lighting to search and rescue.

If you need a solid, dependable, blinding white light...this is the one! Perfect for emergency preparedness, home security, search and recue, law enforcement/security work or camping. A MUST HAVE for your bug out bag. Not as heavy or cumbersome (but just as solid) as a MagLight or Streamlight. This light ignites with sunlike brilliance and will pierce the blackest stormiest night. This is the light you NEED by your bedside and in each vehicle. You can read the specs but seeing is believing. I've tested it in the neighborhood and in the thick New England forests for the past few nights and the neighbors peer out and phones start ringing. Local police even cruised by and wanted to know what we're SEARCHING for! They now own a FENIX for their own. If you are serious about emergency preparedness, this is the light you need. Worth EVERY penny. I suggest a 16 pack of Sanyo Enneloop "AA" NiMH rechargeble batteries with charger and a backup pack of premium alkaline batteries. Just remember to unscrew the tail cap 3 or 4 turns when you store it. I now own 2 of these and have the TK70 on order. With Fenix flashlights and a couple of Coleman Northstar Dual Fuel Lanterns, you're ready for the dark days ahead. Remember, there are only three kinds of men: wolves, sheep and sheepdogs. Which one are you?
