5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful Guide
This book provides an excellent history of Fenton. The photography and guides are very helpful for identification purposes.

Explanations of the Fenton evolution in glass making provide insight into glass making. Excellent for the novice or seasoned veteran. Nicely done!

2.0 out of 5 stars Where is the Index and why so much space used for prices?
This is nice picture book which provides a very brief history of the Fenton Co. (1-1/2 pages) and shows some of their products. There is an extensive Table of Contents, but NO Index. This is very unfortunate since most collectors buy this book, not just because of nice pictures (which most Collector Books always have), but for a reference book and then find no index to...

This review is from: Fenton Art Glass 1907-1939: Identification & Value Guide (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
This is a extremely valuable and complete book on my new hobby.
The pictures of the art glass are perfect for help and the information on the Fenton family is very interesting. The book has helped identify Fenton glass perfectly.

2.0 out of 5 stars Where is the Index and why so much space used for prices?, August 25, 2011

This review is from: Fenton Art Glass 1907-1939: Identification & Value Guide (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
This is nice picture book which provides a very brief history of the Fenton Co. (1-1/2 pages) and shows some of their products. There is an extensive Table of Contents, but NO Index. This is very unfortunate since most collectors buy this book, not just because of nice pictures (which most Collector Books always have), but for a reference book and then find no index to consult! Perhaps as much as one-half of the space in the book list prices for items, but these prices become dated and vary a lot. They are usually provided in an enclosed small pamphlet and do not take up space on expensive multi-colored, glossy pages. The title of the book includes the dates 1907-1939, however, there are many pieces made in this time frame which are not shown. In fact, coverage is very spotted. For example, about 3 pages are devoted to routine pieces of opalescent glass, but this is one of the most collectable types of Fenton glass. Its various forms in the time frame supposedly covered by the book are not shown or discussed. However, about 1/4 of the book (67 pages) is devoted to carnival glass. Thus, book should be useful to carnival collectors. Finally, at the end of the book the authors indicate they will write a book on opalescent glass later. Clearly, the book was not well planned ahead of time and one should use caution in buying other Fenton books by these authors. If you want to know about Fenton glass, invest in the several excellent books written by William Heacock on this topic, which provide very nice pictures, but also provide the background on the various items and patterns.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Gift for my Collector Son, January 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fenton Art Glass 1907-1939: Identification & Value Guide (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
After an extensive search for books on Fenton ware I found this very informative and comprehensive book which details all the glassware produced in that era at the Fenton works. The book had magnificent photos of each piece and gave the values as well as an interesting history of each piece. It is a wonderful book for the serious collector and my son is thrilled with it. I believe from my examination of the book that I could not have chosen better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice for Identification, June 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Comprehensive ID guide. Easy to find a depiction of gramma's glass. I wouldn't use this for a price guide, nor would I buy a piece of Fenton for the prices they quote!!! TOO HIGH and very misleading.
