Product Description

PEONY: Peony plants bear an attractive, glossy green foliage that reaches 2'-3' in height with a similar spread. But their popularity is due mainly to their flowers. Peony plants bloom in late spring or early summer. There are peony plants that are indigenous to China, Europe and the Western U.S.

The herbaceous Peony has been cultivated in home gardens for over 600 years. Considering the beauty of the flower and the longevity of the plants, it's no wonder why they have long been a perennial favorite. Peony clumps may survive as long as 50 years, so it is advisable to prepare the site very thoroughly before planting. Once they have become established in the garden, they are reasonably free from maintenance and problems.

This lovely peony comes from southeastern Europe to southern Russia and has very deeply cut leaves and deep red single flowers with yellow stamens. Prefers partial shade or partial sun to full sun; soil should be moist.

Height: 12-15".
Hardy in zones 3-9. Proper name: Paeonia tenuifolia.

I bought a package of fern peony seeds and the growing medium that was suggested. I watched and waited and not one of the seeds ever sprouted. I even tried notching the seeds as they suggested. I really, really wanted to have a fern peony, but guess I'll have to do without! Guess my thumb isn't green enough.

I followed the directions. So far none of them have even sprouted. Very sad. I really wanted the seeds to work. Thanks. I'll keep trying.
