If you take on installing the sustainer system, you should know how to solder and have something
more than a little solder pen to do it with (Like a gun with some heat).
You will be re-routing all wiring on your existing guitar, which means even de-soldering and re-soldering wires
into and out of your tone and volume pot/s, so get ready for a lot of soldering.
While some of the soldering could be done with a pen, soldering grounds to pot housings becomes a problem due to
heat sinking.
I picked a black Dragonfly X to do the Sustainer work on, and was pleasingly surprised at how easy the install went(except for the soldering). There is more than enough room in the pot/switch cavity to add the board, and I just hogged out the cover for the battery, so no wood had to be routed out; just two drills for the PCB switches.
And yes, I did change the color of the guitar as I have more than enough black guitars!
Anyway, this is how you install the FSK-101 the easy way.
You may ask why I chose a cheap X to do the install on. The reason is that the whole sustainer thing is more of
a novelty to me than anything else (and to a lot of other people) and I was not ready to sacrifice an expensive guitar for this purpose, and in the end I made the right decision, as the FSK101 does not impress me and is more of a pain than anything else trying to deal with hard to control sustain that is picked up on adjacent strings not being played.
Also be ready for trim pot adjusting on the PCB, or having to swap out the bridge pup if the one you have does not work just right.
In the end, this is a dud; SAVE YOUR MONEY!
