BEGINNINGS by Fernando Ortega is a 2 cd set featuring selections of some of the "early" recordings of this great pianist primarily drawn from four albums: Meditations of the Heart, Meditations of the Heart Encore, Hymns and Meditations, and Night of Your Return. While many of these cds are available for purchase online, it is nearly impossible to find them in your typical Christian music store.

Of the thirty-four songs on the album, seventeen are instrumental.

Songs from Meditations of the Heart include: Sacrifice of Praise, Living Water, Morning Star, Family, I Love To Praise Your Name, and As For Us. (Six of the ten songs on the album)

Songs from Meditations of the Heart Encore include: I Remember Well, It's Your Love, Tossed On The Wind, Teach Me Thy Way, and Creation Sings. (Five of the eleven songs on the album).

Hymns and Meditations: Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Near The Cross, Softly and Tenderly, Nothing But The Blood, and I Need Thee Every Hour/Just As I Am/ Come Ye Sinners Medley, What Wondrous Love Is This, Con Que Pagaremos, Brethren We Have Met To Worship, Sacred Head Now Wounded, and Nearer My God To Thee. (Which appears to be the entire album of Hymns and Meditations)

It also seems to include all the songs on Night Of Your Return as well. (My Song Is Love Unknown, Praise To The Lord, The Almighty, Night Of Your Return, Mi Abuelito, Chimayo, Jesus, Lover of My Soul, Here Is Love, Road Song, Stricken, Smitten and Afflicted, This is My Father's World, and Green Pastures.)

With two complete albums and two partial albums, BEGINNINGS is well worth the price and is a great addition for any Fernando Ortega fan's collection.

This piano music is wonderful. His style simple but beautiful.

I absolutely love this album, and I have waited far too long to get it. If either you are a music enthusiast or a serious Christian, this is a must. It is so absolutely peaceful and relaxing, and can be quite profound in its effect. Especially do I enjoy the tracks, Green Pastures and Stricken, Smitten and Afflicted. There are also a couple of Spanish songs here, as well as several instrumental pieces sprinkled throughout, which I personally love. A few more secular songs are here, but in good taste. This album is a practical steal for 2 CD's worth of music. Don't pass this up.

I loved "Beginnings" the first time I listened to it, and have found myself coming back to it ever since. It's peaceful, meditative music, but not "muzaky" or moody. There is substance to these songs that reflect an obvious relationship with the Lord of all, and a love for the world He's created.

I absolutely love this CD. It has instrumentals as well as songs with lyrics. I have always been a fan of his. Great music and great seller. Would buy from them again.

This double CD is a masterpiece. Fernando's reverence for God and talent for gentle yet powerful worship is heard in every note. I have seen him in concert several times, and he is the "real deal". Once he accompanied Twila Paris on the piano, and didn't even want her to announce that he was there. That is true humility. The piano instrumentals soothe my soul, and "What Wondrous Love Is This" is a favorite as well. Anyone who is a fan of Fernando, and even those who aren't familiar will love this collection of Sacred Music. I highly recommend it.

Who doesn't love Fernando Ortega's music??? Soothing piano and soft vocals. Love, love, love these two CD's. Will be purchasing more of his music.

Great album, very soothing and uplifiting. Fernando has take some the old hymns and put his style and instrumentation to them. I recommend this album to anyone that likes renaissance style worship music, they will love it.

I love listening to this CD as it is very calming and gets a person where they need to be. Put on headphones and tune everything else out and then pray and meditate.

This is a great mix of old and new music. Very relaxing and meditative collection. The fact that it is 2 CD's makes it a very good bargain. I really enjoy his music and style.

A great CD, great compilation of music. This will be a CD we will be enjoying for years to come!
