5.0 out of 5 stars Ferrari Bible
This may be a book without fault. It's complete, easy to use, lovely to browse, and inexpensive. In the 1970s the Fitzgerald and Merit guide to Ferraris was the masterwork. It was updated a couple of times but disappeared in the '80s. Signore Acerbi has come to the rescue. Every Ferrari, including competition models, gets double-spread coverage. The left-hand page has a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Long time Tifosi
A good book that covers plenty of the Ferrari models over the years. Has in depth technical details about the cars and their production. I just wish it showed more real pictures of the cars, as most are just artist drawings.

It was updated a couple of times but disappeared in the '80s. Signore Acerbi has come to the rescue. Every Ferrari, including competition models, gets double-spread coverage. The left-hand page has a photo and specifications. The right-hand page has a gorgeous pen-and-ink illustrarion and well-considered, clear commentary. There is even a "Palmares" section at the back which details every major Ferrari racing victory. I've bought one for myself and four for friends. Terrific!

4.0 out of 5 stars A decent starting point, April 4, 2008
This review is from: Ferrari: A Complete Guide to All Models (Paperback)
I think this book is handy to have as a quick reference, and is a good starting point for casual research. But to consider it a "Complete Guide to All Models" is a lot of wishful thinking. I would love to have such a book, but it likely could not be contained in a single volume. When you consider all of the unique variations of the cars produced during the earliest decades of the company, as well as the different incarnations of individual cars that were given new engines, new bodies, etc., during their racing careers, you begin to see that two pages is hardly adequate to begin to cover a single model (especially in a book this size). Still, as a whole, there is a lot of good information here. It will do until something better comes along.

5.0 out of 5 stars OK- but stars should have been 3 not five, September 6, 2006
This review is from: Ferrari: A Complete Guide to All Models (Paperback)
Have NOT finished but I can see this is a very well thought out book. For instance, the content page contains a thumbnail to identify the car: Great idea, for quick ref. if you do not know the model name/number. The index is full, the trailers show races won in order. ...kind of like a bird-watchers field manual.
Accuracy: LACKS. Plenty of mistakes...he should have proof read, and makes him look like a 'newbie' to the Ferrari world. Mostly just a superficial rehash of company blurbs, or from other better books.
Case in point, his MONDIAL-T is a correct in text etc. BUT shows a Mondial 8... WRONG CAR. There is almost a world of diff. between the 308/328 and the 348 engines of the 'T' model, albeit only a small amount of cosmetic changes. He shows the Mondial 8 as a T.

This is a very interesting guide to all Ferraris up to 2005. Each Ferrari model is covered in the most basic amount of detail on just two pages. The information is more technical and the illustrations are small, but it does include at least one paragraph of the car's past.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, September 24, 2010
This review is from: Ferrari: A Complete Guide to All Models (Paperback)
I read reviews on amazon for this book. They were generally good. My biggest disappointment is the lack of photos. There are many cars described in detail but without any photos. There are in some cases more pictures of the one off models than actual "production" cars. In the end, a good quick read and a decent reference though there are mistakes (identified by another reviewer) and in one case the same photos are used for what are two different models (456). That is not excusable. I would still buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exotic fantasy of dreams in car manufacture for enthusiasts all over the world which is unlike any that came out before it, January 17, 2010

This review is from: Ferrari: A Complete Guide to All Models (Paperback)
For years, various writers and historians have struggled to publish a comprehensive list of all the Ferrari models. It's therefore befitting that Leonardo Acerbi a journalist of comprehensive knowledge wrote this book. Besides being the high grade journalist that he is, he is also a enthusiast in automobile history particularly Ferrari. He has studied and collected material on the Prancing Horse and its extraordinary cars for more than 20years. Ferrari has been a car of dreams for all motor vehicle enthusiasts and for the not so enthusiast no one whether a car lover or not doesn't stop and admire the Ferrari which is the fantasy of dreams in a automobile. To say it stops traffic is an understatement the roar it makes in it,s sleek body it possesses has been ahead of its time since its inception. From the first 125 to the latest F430 Ferrari has produced a dazzling and wide variety of displayed cars for over 60years. They have always been one of a kind in show and racing,in which the list seems endless and bewildering, even to those who claim to know a great deal about the stallion manufacture. The famous symbol that anyone regardless of motoring vehicle heritage knows that it stands for is a magnificent animal proud, sleek and strong, with unparalleled flowing lines in it,s body of design which creates maximum reduction of drag in it's speed of beauty which is paramount to everyone. In the end This is a definite Ferrari enthusiasts book which is a must have not only for the invaluable reference material but also for it,s information in its presentation of exotic models and majestic array of colour photographs, which is,why it is a truly a beautiful book to find out more about in reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flawed but still one of my favourite Ferrari books, October 20, 2009
This review is from: Ferrari: A Complete Guide to All Models (Paperback)
I love this book, warts and all. Although it is not a complete guide to all models as it claims to be, it is an excellent if ultimately flawed attempt at what is a huge undertaking. I do reference this book often, but at the same time I take the facts as presented with a grain of salt. There are many errors contained within its pages but it still does not detract from the outstanding effort that had gone into its compilation.

Brilliant value for money, but should be called "A quick basic reference to ALMOST evey Ferrari model ever made"

Amazon requested this review. I gave 'Ferrari' to my grandson. He knows Ferraris are a big deal because he has seen them on the History Channel. He likes the book, particularly the 'thumbnails' in the table of contents. He is only six now, but next year he'll be seven.
