This book has everything I needed to know and more. The advice on feeding, types of food extended their life span, and safed me major medical expenses down the road. Oh and my Ferrets don't bite any more. I can't say enough about this book. "BIG Bravo Zulu"

Having been involved with keeping ferrets as pets, raising ferrets, watching ferrets, giving ferret advice and simply admiring ferrets for more years than I care to mention, I can truthfully say that this is one of the best overall, generally useful and most informative book for ferret owners that I have read. It is geared to the individual who has one or more ferrets for pets.

The Animal Planet Pet Care Library is a good, all around series and this little book is no exception. It covers, in some detail, the care, feeding, handling, socialization, housing, medical care and maintenance of these wonderful little animals.

The author does go into a nicely done natural history of ferrets and gives us a wonderful section of description including color variations, verbal communication and body language (very important if you want the most enjoyment out of your pet). I particularly liked the section of ferret physiology and the section giving advice on picking and choosing a veterinarian for your animal. The book is filled with wonderful photographs which are a delight within themselves. The text is concise, not too technical, and completely readable.

For the pet owner, I cannot think of a better book on the subject. There are many, many books on the subject of ferrets out there (goodness knows I have most of them), but this one is certainly at the top of the heap as far as usability goes and certainly in that position for the pet owner.

One of the very best all around ferret books available. Detailed, up-to-date information on housing, feeding, ferret-specific ailments and training. This book gets into the nuts and bolts of day-to-day living with and caring for ferrets, its a must have book for both novice and experienced ferret owners. If you can only afford one ferret book, this is the one to get!

I love this book. I recently got it and read it within 30 minutes. It has little tid-bits on helpful advice about certain things. They are quick to the point. Tons of pictures with examples on things. Even has some recipes for cooking for your ferret if you want to choose a more natural diet. At first, my ferret would make certain sounds and it would worry me. Now I can tell the difference between her being happy, mad, complaining to me or just being cute. I would advise this book. It even has home treats you can give your ferret.

The book is very short and full of cute pictures. I would only recommended this book to someone who doesn't have a ferret and isn't planning on getting one but would like to know more about ferrets. I read this book shortly after I got my first ferret and it did not help me at all and left me more confused. I highly recommend the book Ferrets for Dummies for those who are interested in getting a ferret. That book is a lot longer and was a million times more helpful to me than this book ever was.

Some good information, but brief compared to Ferrets for Dummies. A good introduction from a breeder and board member of the AFA, but once you get your fuzzies and get started, you will probably want more detailed information on common health problems, behavior, etc. This author is an advocate for a natural/raw diet, (like the Dummies author) and it is nice to have newer books out there that address that, without saying all dry diets are bad.
