Excellent traditional Scottish and Irish music, January 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Ferry Cottage (Audio CD)
This is an excellent cd, displaying Sharons brilliant virtuosity on the clarsach and Irish harp, and John's light and sensitive fiddle playing. The slower Scottish tracks particularly shine, especially the exceptional "Neil Gow's lament for the Death of his Second Wife". The O'Carolan tracks are also particularly evocative, demonstrating Sharon's excellent and emotive use of the low bass strings.
John also demonstrates his virtuosity on several other instruments, although it has to be said that his fiddle playing shines out as his finest achievement.
I heartily reccomend this cd to anyone who has a particular love of traditional Scottish music, played as it should be. Well done John and Sharon!

John and Sharon possess an extraordinary talent for playing by ear and they play with a passion that can only come from people who love what they do. This is a wonderful recording and I highly recommend it to everyone! Fine job, John and Sharon!!!
